Start with the rules, not the tower list

The community mode reference describes standard CHIMPS as rounds 6–100 with Hard prices, no Monkey Knowledge, no selling and no tolerated life loss. Impoppable also runs from 6 to 100, but uses higher prices. Finishing Impoppable unlocks CHIMPS on that map; it does not make the same shopping sequence transferable.

The income restriction is not a zero-cash rule: ordinary pop cash and end-of-round payments remain. Do not budget for farm profits or the sale of an earlier tower. Special map interactions and custom rules are outside this checklist. Confirm the actual mode label before trying to reproduce a video.

Treat every placement as a commitment. Before confirming it, check the space needed by the next tower in the route. A starter that occupies the later support position can create a failure long before the difficult wave arrives.

Make a route card before pressing Play

Use a route whose author shows the setup and explains purchase timing. A short highlight of the final defense cannot establish how the opening survived or how the upgrades were afforded. If the build number or settings are missing, label the route unverified rather than guessing they match.

Version example: Ninja Kiwi's v56.0 notes changed ability-bar ordering to tower-placement order and changed how cooldown progress is retained on upgrades. An instruction such as 'press the second ability' is therefore weaker than naming the ability and showing its ready state. These documented changes demonstrate why version matching matters; they do not prove any particular route succeeds or fails.

  1. Record the installed version, platform/edition, map and CHIMPS mode. Compare them with the source route; stop calling it a reproduction if important settings are unknown.
  2. Record the hero, starting placements and all upgrade paths. Keep each tower's full three-path notation, not just its highest tier.
  3. At each purchase checkpoint, note whether it happens before a round, during it or after it. Compare cash at that same moment, not two different points in the wave.
  4. Capture your own placement reference using landmarks, range boundaries and nearby towers. Keep the original route link and timestamp next to it.
  5. Write each ability by name, with a visible trigger and required ready state. Do not rely solely on a toolbar position or a sped-up video's timing.

Worked example: a purchase mismatch is not a damage test

This is an invented arithmetic example, not a tower-price quote or a measured run. Suppose a route says to buy an upgrade before starting a wave. Your screen shows 1,800 cash; the upgrade panel shows 2,100. You are 300 short. The route's defense has not been reproduced, so a loss would not yet tell you whether that upgraded defense works.

Suppose your notes also show an optional earlier purchase costing 350. In an otherwise identical cash history, omitting it would leave 2,150, enough for the 2,100 purchase with 50 left. That is a budget comparison only: removing the earlier tower may change how the preceding rounds play. Verify the opening again; do not present the arithmetic as a winning route.

CheckpointArithmeticWhat the result establishes
Actual screen before the purchase2,100 − 1,800 = 300 shortThe requested purchase is unavailable now.
Hypothetical omission of a 350 purchase1,800 + 350 = 2,150Enough cash only if the earlier cash history stays equivalent.
Hypothetical balance after the upgrade2,150 − 2,100 = 50A 50 buffer, not proof the defense survives.

Diagnose the first mismatch, then change one thing

Compare a checkpoint before the failure and work forward. Do not replace the whole build immediately: that erases the evidence of what changed. In a new practice attempt, alter one suspected cause and record whether the same discrepancy returns. A successful correction of one checkpoint is not evidence of a full round-100 clear.

Save a useful result, including an unsuccessful one

A useful report says what was observed, under which conditions, and what remains unknown. Use the worksheet below after a practice attempt. Attach your own screenshot or short clip at the first mismatch, with the round, cash and selected tower visible. If you share someone else's clip, link and attribute it; do not label it your test.

For a failure report, identify the first differing checkpoint and the eventual losing round separately. For a success report, say how far the run actually reached and whether any retries were used. Do not call a partial recovery a clear, or a clear on one build a guarantee for another.

GamerWin has checked the arithmetic example and the cited reference text, not executed this route in the game. The beginner round planner linked below checks selected standard-round capabilities only through round 80; it does not certify CHIMPS readiness or the final 20 rounds.

Before you play

  • Map, mode, installed build and route assumptions are recorded.
  • Cash is compared at the same point in the round, using prices shown in the game.
  • Placement, full upgrade paths, targeting and named ability triggers are matched.
  • First divergence is separated from the losing round and only one change is tested at a time.
  • Results are labelled as an actual observation, a proposed test or illustrative arithmetic.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy an Impoppable shopping list directly?

Not safely. Standard CHIMPS uses Hard prices and disables knowledge, selling and ordinary extra-income plans. Match the rules and purchase checkpoints, not just the final tower arrangement.

Does CHIMPS remove all cash earned during a run?

No. Ordinary pop cash and end-of-round payments remain. Do not confuse the restriction on extra income with having no budget after the opening.

Is this a tested CHIMPS clear for v56.0?

No. It is a source-backed troubleshooting procedure with a checked arithmetic example. The official v56.0 notes illustrate a version dependency; no GamerWin gameplay clear or latest-build compatibility is claimed.
