Check which blueprint or station is missing

The fan database lists three Mobile Vehicle Bay fragment scans for the bay blueprint and three Seamoth fragment scans for the submarine blueprint. These are separate counters: unlocking the bay does not also unlock the Seamoth. Open the PDA to inspect your actual progress, and scan fragments with the Scanner instead of assuming one wreck contains a complete set.

After the bay blueprint is available, craft the bay in a Fabricator. The community Wiki describes it as a deployable, so take the crafted item into open water and deploy it. Open the bay's vehicle menu for the Seamoth rather than searching only in the lifepod Fabricator. The number of fragments and available menu names should be checked in the installed game.

Budget each build separately

The indexed bay reference lists one Titanium Ingot, one Lubricant and one Power Cell for the Mobile Vehicle Bay. The directly read Seamoth page lists one Titanium Ingot, one Power Cell, two Glass, one Lubricant and one Lead at the bay. These are intermediate parts, not a full raw-material shopping list.

Starting with no stock and making exactly one of each therefore uses two Ingots, two Power Cells and two Lubricants in total, plus two Glass and one Lead. A Power Cell is itself made from two Batteries and one Silicone Rubber, so the two cells together require four Batteries and two Silicone Rubber unless cells are already owned. Avoid spending one completed cell on the bay and then assuming it remains available for the submarine.

Worked stock check after building the bay

Suppose the bay is already built and deployed. Your current inventory contains one Titanium Ingot, one Power Cell, one Lubricant, one Glass and no Lead. Compare those items only against the remaining Seamoth row: you still need one Glass and one Lead. The already-built bay's consumed parts are not added a second time.

Conversely, if both constructions are still ahead and you own only one Ingot, one Power Cell and one Lubricant, those items cover the bay or the corresponding part of the total, not both. This is stock arithmetic based on the reference recipes, not a screenshot or recorded game session.

Scan in short, reversible dives

The references list Bay fragments in areas including Kelp Forest and Seamoth fragments around Grassy Plateaus. They also describe randomized locations; a location list is not a guarantee that a particular piece appears on your route. Look for a scannable fragment, read the PDA counter, and turn back for air before risking a deeper search.

The original game's oxygen timer and local hazards matter independently of blueprint progress. Record a safe surface or lifepod return and scan the next piece on another trip if needed. Exact wreck coordinates, combat results and a fastest route are not claimed here.

  1. Inspect the PDA for both blueprint counters and take a working Scanner.
  2. Plan an air-safe return route; look for Bay and Seamoth fragments separately in their documented regions.
  3. Gather one set of bay ingredients and craft it at the Fabricator.
  4. Carry and deploy the bay in open water, then open its vehicle menu.
  5. Compare your remaining inventory to the Seamoth recipe, gather shortages, and construct the vehicle.
  6. Enter the completed vehicle and check its displayed power and depth limit before planning the next dive.

A new vehicle is not a depth upgrade

The directly read fan database lists a 200 m unmodified Seamoth crush depth in its build 83031 data. Verify the displayed depth in your own game and leave a safety margin; a completed build does not itself mean the vehicle can survive every deeper route. Depth modules and their crafting stations are separate objectives.

If a recipe or depth differs, save the platform and version, current PDA counter, ingredients and actual result. This allows another reader to reproduce the discrepancy without representing a source-based ledger as hands-on testing.

Before you play

  • Check the two blueprint counters independently.
  • Reserve separate Bay and Seamoth components.
  • Deploy the crafted Bay and use its vehicle menu.
  • Verify the Seamoth's displayed depth and power before a dive.

Frequently asked questions

Does crafting the Vehicle Bay unlock the Seamoth blueprint?

No. The referenced original-game build lists separate fragment counters for both.

Why do I need two Power Cells?

One is listed for the Vehicle Bay and a separate one for the Seamoth. If either is already built or owned, subtract it from your own budget.

Is this the Subnautica 2 recipe?

No. This guide is scoped to the original Subnautica and the cited fan database's build 83031 data.

Can the stock Seamoth safely reach any depth?

No. The reference lists a 200 m crush depth without a module; confirm the value displayed in your installed game.
