Separate entry, descent and a saved elevator stop

The community Mines page says the entrance is blocked until Spring 5 in Year 1, when the player receives a notice. The entrance has a ladder and an elevator; first-time visitors also receive a Rusty Sword from Marlon. A floor number in your plan is not a visited checkpoint: reach the multiple-of-five floor and check the elevator options when you next return.

If you return after reaching floor 5, the next complete five-floor target is 10; if you leave at floor 8, do not assume floor 10 is available. This is a route decision, not a guaranteed amount of time or ore. Rooms, monsters, health and actual ladder locations vary.

Prepare before entering, not on the last ladder

Your starting supplies and food are finite. Before a trip, check the current clock, health and energy, equip a suitable weapon and pickaxe, leave backpack space, and decide which food you are willing to consume. The Wiki describes mining, enemies and ladder searches but does not guarantee a fixed number of rocks or meals for a five-floor block.

This guide does not set a universal departure hour: your path home, unlocked transport, food and play conditions determine the margin. If a floor costs more than expected, protect the return first. A hypothetical route should not be reported as a completed run.

  1. Confirm the entrance is open and note your latest accessible elevator floor.
  2. Put needed tools, weapon and healing food in accessible inventory; leave space for intended resources.
  3. Select the next multiple-of-five stop as an optional target, not an obligation.
  4. On each floor, assess health, energy, the clock and a way back before spending more resources.
  5. When the target is reached, leave with a safe margin; on a later trip inspect the elevator list before descending.

Find the first reason you cannot go down

On ordinary floors a ladder may already be visible, appear after rocks are broken or come from an enemy. The community Mines reference says infested floors generally require defeating the enemies, but records a rare preloaded-ladder exception. Do not keep breaking nonexistent rocks in an infested room or assume a staircase recipe is unlocked on a new save.

If health is low or fighting is beyond your equipment, leave rather than treating every ladder as mandatory. A Staircase is a different resource choice: the referenced recipe needs Mining level 2 and 99 Stone. It skips one floor, not an entire five-floor interval, and using one does not prove a natural ladder would have appeared.

A checkpoint and a copper goal are different

The Mines page says Copper Ore can begin appearing on floor 2, not that every trip yields a fixed amount. For the separate furnace goal, the cited recipe needs 20 Copper Ore and 25 Stone to build a basic Furnace, while five Copper Bars require 25 additional Ore and five Coal to smelt. If you already have a Furnace, do not budget its construction a second time.

An example with an existing Furnace, 11 Ore and a target of three more bars needs 15 Ore total for those batches, so the ore shortfall is four; coal and already-completed bars still need their own count. A visit to floor 5 does not guarantee those four ore. Use the linked copper guide for the full machine, fuel and processing ledger.

Record an actual before-and-after trip

On your own save, note the date, platform, current elevator list, departure and return clock, health and energy, food consumed, reached floor and ore collected. Check the elevator after returning. Keep a different result if you stop early; do not turn a planned checkpoint into a claim that it was achieved.

Before you play

  • Check the entrance and current elevator options.
  • Pick a five-floor target without committing to unsafe descent.
  • Separate ladder, combat and Staircase decisions.
  • Leave enough health, energy and time for the return.
  • Count furnace construction and bar fuel separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does reaching floor 8 unlock floor 10?

No. The cited elevator accesses previously reached multiples of five. Reach the target floor before treating it as a checkpoint.

Does floor 5 guarantee enough copper for a Furnace?

No. Copper may appear from floor 2, but the cited material does not promise a fixed yield per trip.

Are these timings tested on a GamerWin farm?

No. The five-floor method is source-based planning; no played route or survival result is claimed.
