Use the later update, not the pre-launch answer

FuturLab's FAQ was last edited in November 2025 and said key rebinding was a post-launch priority. Update 1.2 subsequently announced key rebinding and controller deadzone sliders. The later patch note wins for the feature's existence, while the exact control labels and device support should be checked in the installed version.

Change one input variable at a time

Deadzone is a per-controller preference: increasing it can suppress small unwanted stick movement but also ignore smaller intentional input. The patch announces sliders without prescribing a number. Keep a note of the original setting so you can undo a change that feels worse.

  1. Check the game build and connected input device before changing settings.
  2. Record the existing binding/deadzone value or take a private screenshot for your own reference.
  3. Change one binding or deadzone slider by a small amount; do not reset all controls as the first step.
  4. Test a neutral stick, a short walk/aim and a low-risk spray action; restore the previous value if response becomes less controllable.
  5. If the control is still unavailable or the problem persists, record platform, device, build and exact symptom for official support.

When the issue is not a control setting

A cursor that feels delayed can be caused by input mapping, display or performance symptoms; this guide cannot diagnose a particular device. The official 1.2 note also lists frame-rate updates, but does not claim that all latency or performance problems are resolved.

  1. Separate a stationary drift from a delayed response and from low frame rate; describe which one you see.
  2. Test the same device in another game only as a comparison, not proof of a PWS2 defect.
  3. Check official notes for your platform, then report reproducible steps to FuturLab; avoid downloading unverified control-fix executables.

Make a control report reproducible

Input symptoms become easier to investigate when the device and exact behavior are named. The source does not promise that every controller layout or slider is identical across platforms.

  1. State keyboard or controller model, platform, game build and whether the symptom is drift, missed input, an uncomfortable binding or delay.
  2. Describe the original setting and one change at a time; note whether reverting it restored the previous behavior.
  3. Use the official support route for a device-specific issue and do not download third-party executables offered as fixes.

Before you play

  • Check your installed build; Update 1.2 added key rebinding and controller deadzone sliders.
  • Do not treat the pre-launch FAQ as current for features changed after launch.
  • Change one binding or slider at a time and record the previous value.
  • Test neutral input and a low-risk action before returning to a long job.
  • Use official support for platform/device-specific problems.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rebind keys in PowerWash Simulator 2?

FuturLab's Update 1.2 notes say key rebinding was added. Check the installed platform build and settings menu; this guide doesn't assert identical controls on every platform.

What deadzone should I use?

The developer added sliders but did not prescribe a universal number. Adjust incrementally for your controller and keep a note of the previous value.

An older FAQ says rebinding wasn't available. Which is right?

The older FAQ is dated pre-launch; Update 1.2 is later and documents the feature. Use the patch notes matching your build.
