Prepare a recoverable copy before changing files

  1. Exit Anno 1800 and Ubisoft Connect fully; confirm neither remains open in the background.
  2. Use Ubisoft's current PC backup article to identify the correct Ubisoft Connect save location for this account.
  3. Copy the relevant folder rather than moving it, and store the copy outside the active game/launcher save directory.
  4. Keep the date and the original folder structure in your backup; do not overwrite it with the candidate restore.
  5. If using a different launcher integration, consult that launcher’s own current cloud-save instructions as well.

Restore cautiously and verify before saving again

A general restore procedure can place files back on disk, but it does not prove that the intended island is present or that cloud sync will not replace it. Keep the backup until the game opens the expected campaign.

  1. Follow Ubisoft's live restore instructions, matching the specific PC account and save folder.
  2. Before allowing synchronization, compare the restore candidate with Ubisoft Connect's current cloud status.
  3. Launch Anno 1800 and verify the island name, campaign/era and last known progress before making a new save.
  4. If the correct island is still absent, stop and contact Ubisoft Support with the non-sensitive error and timestamps; do not overwrite the only remaining copy.

Before you play

  • I identified the platform/launcher and Ubisoft account.
  • The original save directory is untouched.
  • I have a dated second copy outside the active save folder.
  • I distinguished manual backup from cloud upload and restore.
  • I verified island identity before generating another save.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ubisoft cloud the same as a PC backup?

No. Cloud upload syncs the selected save; a separate PC copy gives you another local copy, subject to its own integrity.

Does Ubisoft guarantee a recovery from a deleted save?

The general backup/restore instructions do not promise recovery if no valid copy remains.

Can this tool read a save file?

No. The browser-local worksheet uses only text entered by you.

Editorial revision: November 6, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Ubisoft Help: Back up Ubisoft Connect PC saves (Official)

General Ubisoft Connect PC backup instructions. This is not a cloud rollback or a guarantee that every Anno 1800 save can be restored; close the game/client and preserve an untouched copy before testing.

  2. Ubisoft Help: Restore Ubisoft Connect save files on PC (Official)

General Ubisoft Connect PC restore procedure. It does not decide which Anno 1800 cloud/local copy is newer; confirm the target folder and preserve both copies before replacement.

  3. Ubisoft Help: Managing cloud saves in Anno 1800 (Official)

Ubisoft says Anno 1800 can store up to ten cloud saves and describes uploading from Load game > Saved Games. Cloud behavior is Ubisoft Connect PC-specific; recheck the live support entry before resolving a conflict.

  4. Anno 1800 player discussions (Community)

External player-created Steam topics, including reports about sync conflicts. They can describe older builds or different launchers and are not Ubisoft-confirmed recovery instructions.
