Read the production flow before adding modules
The official manual's Logical Station Overview represents production modules as rounded boxes, ware storage as sharp-edged boxes and links as resource flow. It describes a red production indicator as usually meaning the module lacks required resources. This makes the overview a useful first diagnostic, but the visual state does not reveal whether the root cause is local stock, cargo delivery, funds or a module connection.
- Select the station and open its Logical Station Overview in the current UI.
- Identify the exact red/inactive production box and read its listed input wares.
- Follow each required input to its storage box; record whether it is empty, low or disconnected from the production chain.
- Check that the module uses the correct storage type: Solid for solid resources, Liquid for liquids and Container for common intermediate goods as the manual describes.
- Inspect station account, manager and subordinate ships separately; the older manual says managers order mining/trading ships and storage allocation is automatic by default.
- If manually transferring wares, verify the current UI shows the transfer order and the receiving build/regular storage expected.
| Observation | First diagnostic branch | Version caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Red production module | Missing input is common; follow input ware to storage | Official manual v5.10 wording; current UI may differ |
| Input stock exists but module remains idle | Check ware connection, correct storage type and module's exact requirement | Do not infer a route from stock icon alone |
| No inbound subordinate traffic | Manager, subordinate assignment, trade offer and station funds | Older manual's management steps require current-build confirmation |
| Build storage is not filling | Construction budget, builder, cargo route and required construction wares | Do not confuse build storage with station production storage |

Separate operating inputs from construction supplies
The version-5.10 manual distinguishes ordinary ware storage from build storage and says construction speed depends on available construction materials and builder drones. A production facility that is unfinished or missing its construction delivery is a different problem from a completed factory with an empty recipe input. Check which state the station actually displays before ordering more resources.
- Confirm whether the module is still being built or is finished and idle.
- For an unfinished module, inspect the Build Storage and the wares required by the current construction plan.
- For a finished module, return to the production input boxes and identify the missing recipe ware.
- Check station funds available for the relevant automatic purchase; manual documentation describes a station account and recommended budget, but current values should be taken from the UI.
- Record the exact missing ware and next ship/transfer event instead of assigning blame to the factory recipe.

Use a minimal reproducible check
This guide does not prove a station is profitable or simulate X4's dynamic economy. It narrows a visible stall into a ware-flow question. If the v5.10 manual's menu or behavior differs from the current client, prefer the current official help/update information.
- Pause changes to the blueprint while noting current module, ware and storage state.
- Resolve one exact missing input by confirming source availability, storage eligibility, funds and a ship or transfer path.
- Wait for the station overview to update and see whether the same module begins a cycle.
- If it does not, record game build, DLC, mods, station module and visible message for a focused support or community question.
- Treat Steam discussion advice as player experience, not a verified rule, especially where it references older builds or mods.

Before you play
- Game version, DLC and mod state recorded.
- Production box and missing input identified from the current LSO.
- Storage type and connected ware stock checked.
- Build materials separated from recipe inputs.
- Manager, subordinate, trade and station funds checked independently.
- One delivery correction retested against the same module.
Frequently asked questions
Does a red production box always mean the station is broken?
The v5.10 manual says red usually indicates missing resources. Check the exact input and current UI; this guide does not claim a current-version universal rule.
What is the difference between build storage and a production input?
Build Storage supplies construction wares to a module under construction; a finished production module needs its recipe inputs in the relevant station storage.
Can this page inspect my station or tell whether a mod caused the stall?
No. It only organizes a player-entered diagnosis; it cannot read your station, save, mods or live economy.
