Do not mistake the catalog change for a save transfer
CD PROJEKT RED says that standalone expansions are delisted in the updated catalog and the Base Game is replaced by the Complete Edition containing Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. It also says qualifying existing owners receive the Remastered upgrade free and that saves remain compatible. That is publisher-wide product information, not a check of which account or SKU you personally own.
| Question | Publisher's dated statement | Reader's verification |
|---|---|---|
| Does Remastered change save compatibility? | Existing saves remain compatible; Cross Progression continues as before. | Confirm the right CD PROJEKT RED account and source cloud icon. |
| Are the two expansions included in Complete Edition? | The Remastered page says Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included. | Check your platform library and installed content for the exact product you launch. |
| Is every past purchase automatically upgraded? | The page says free upgrade for qualifying ownership. | Verify eligibility in your own store/account; don't buy again just because a menu is missing. |

Compare modded-save requirements before platform switching
The in-game Mods menu uses mod.io and is listed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. CD PROJEKT RED says the same set of mods must be enabled on both platforms for Cross Progression; missing or incompatible target mods may prevent the save from loading. A subscription syncing between accounts does not mean that every mod is available on every platform.
- On the source platform, check whether the save has the mod.io cog marker, which CDPR says identifies a save created while mods were enabled.
- Open each mod's details and look for the Available on consoles tag before expecting it on a console destination.
- On the destination, compare the Installed list and ensure the same compatible mods are enabled before loading the save.
- If a required mod is unavailable on the destination, preserve the source save and first consult that mod's compatibility/support notes rather than overwriting the only copy.
- On console, note that the publisher says achievements and trophies are disabled on modded save files.

A safe decision table
Use the missing-save guide for a save that is absent from Load Game. Use this guide when the save is visible but edition content or mods block loading, or when checking what Remastered changed.
| Observed situation | Check next | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Old save missing entirely | Account used before; old-console upload branch; cloud icon. | Repeated installs or unlinking accounts before confirming prior linkage. |
| Save visible, says content/DLC missing | Compare source expansion content with destination product/library. | Assuming Cross Progression transfers DLC ownership. |
| Save visible, mod marker or load failure | Match enabled mods and target-platform availability. | Loading a modded save with a different mod set as the only copy. |
| Console trophy/achievement question | Check whether the save is marked modded. | Assuming trophies remain enabled on modded saves. |

Community discussion is not verified support
Steam Discussions can help identify what other players are asking, but the posts are user-generated and may describe the pre-Remastered release, a different store, or a different mod. Compare any proposed fix with the dated CD PROJEKT RED pages above; don't post credentials, receipts, or raw save files.

Before you play
- Check the actual platform edition/library; do not infer a personal license from the general catalog announcement.
- Keep save transfer, expansion entitlement, and mod compatibility as separate checks.
- For a modded save, compare the enabled mod set and each mod's console availability.
- Understand that console trophies/achievements are disabled on modded saves per the support page.
- Treat Steam Discussions as user-generated leads, not verified GamerWin fixes.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 2026 Remastered announcement mean my save was transferred?
No. The announcement says saves remain compatible; transferring a missing console save still requires the documented Cross Progression/account/cloud-save path.
Do I need the expansions to load every base-game save?
CD PROJEKT RED's support example says base-game saves load in Complete Edition, but expansion-content saves need matching content at the destination.
Can this tool verify if I'm eligible for the free Remastered upgrade?
No. It uses your selections only and cannot access a platform store, account, purchase history, or installed game.

- CD PROJEKT RED: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered (Official)
The official page dates Remastered to September 29, 2026 and says existing saves remain compatible and Cross Progression continues to function. It describes the included expansions, qualifying free upgrades, platform scope, and the changed Complete Edition catalog. Storefront eligibility still needs to be checked in the player's own account.
- CD PROJEKT RED Support: Cross-Platform Mod Support (Official)
The in-game mod.io menu is listed for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Cross Progression requires the same enabled mods on both platforms; incompatible or missing target mods may prevent loading. The support page says console achievements/trophies are disabled for modded saves.
- CD PROJEKT RED Support: How to Use Cross Progression (Official)
Support requires the latest platform patch, the same CD PROJEKT RED account on both clients, and a newly created source save with a cloud icon. The destination uses My Rewards and then Load Game. The steps describe the supported workflow, not account-specific recovery.
- CD PROJEKT RED Support: Cross-Progression Saves Require Matching Game Content (Official)
Support states that the same game content must be present. A base-game save can load in Complete Edition, but a Complete Edition save cannot load on a base-game installation missing its expansions/DLC. Check the target platform's library; this guide cannot verify entitlement.
- CD PROJEKT RED Support: Missing Saves After Updating to Remastered (Official)
The current support page says to use the same previously linked CD PROJEKT RED account; if the player still has access to the old console, enable Cross Progression there and upload a save. If they had never used it and no longer have the old console, support says it cannot assist with retrieval.
