Choose the account whose progress must survive as Primary
The official Cross Platform Save FAQ explains that account Linking selects one Warframe account as Primary. Its example says a PC account linked to a PlayStation account permanently overrides the existing PlayStation progress with the PC progress; after a unified account is created, the Secondary account's separate progress and inventory are no longer accessible except for the Primary account's. Treat this as an irreversible decision, not a routine sign-in.
- List every platform account you have and which one contains the quests, inventory, purchases or progression you want to continue.
- Choose the account that should become Primary before opening the linking workflow; do not decide from the first platform shown in a prompt.
- Read the current account management screen and the final confirmation text carefully. Stop if the selected Primary account or consequences are unclear.
- Only proceed after you understand that existing Secondary progress is not retained as a separately playable account under the linked setup.

Separate required PC account from required PC play
Digital Extremes says a PC Warframe account is required to create a Cross Platform Save account and that additional platform accounts can then be linked one at a time. The FAQ also says the player does not need to download or play Warframe on PC to use the unified account on other platforms. One linked account per platform is allowed, according to the current FAQ; confirm the supported platform list and the live workflow before acting.
- If you do not have a PC account, create one only through the official Warframe account portal and secure it first.
- Review the platform list and any purchase exceptions on the current Cross Platform Save FAQ; platform commerce rules can differ.
- Link one platform account at a time and verify each confirmation in Account Management before moving to another.
- Do not assume that game download, cross-play, cross-progression and account-linking are the same feature.

Do not confuse retired Merging with current Linking
Digital Extremes Support states that account Merging was retired permanently on January 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. ET. The current Cross Platform Save guide documents Linking instead. Search results or older forum posts mentioning Merge do not establish that Merging can restore or combine an account today.

The official Players Helping Players forum can help explain what a screen means, but forum replies are community advice rather than account-specific support. If a prompt is ambiguous, describe the platform pair and which account is intended to be Primary; redact email addresses, passwords, two-factor codes, receipts and personal identifiers.
