Trace the product through the island

Kalypso's manual says raw resources travel by teamsters to industrial buildings, processed goods then travel by teamsters to the Dock, and a freighter periodically ships stored goods. The product can fail at any handoff even when a building's production indicator is positive.

  1. Choose one product and record raw-site output and inventory.
  2. Check whether the processor receives the correct input and whether it has workers and an active work mode.
  3. Inspect finished-goods inventory at the processor and the teamster route to the dock.
  4. Select the dock and check the product stock there; distinguish 'made' from 'waiting at dock'.
  5. Check freighter timing and the active export/trade contract before estimating cash flow.

Use trade routes after confirming supply

The manual says trade licenses create buy/sell routes at better rates, that rates depend on standing with the offering superpower, and routes expire after the requested volume is traded. It also notes some export prices vary by era. A favorable route is only useful if you can deliver its requested amount without starving local production.

  1. Compare dock stock with the offered route's product and volume.
  2. Read the route's superpower, rate, standing effect and expiration conditions in the current trade UI.
  3. Check whether a local industry or citizen need competes for the same output before committing the entire supply.
  4. After accepting, recheck dock stock and route progress rather than projecting income from production alone.

Post a useful logistics question

For community help, report the era, mission or sandbox, product, stock at each stage and whether the dock is accumulating goods. Keep screenshots free of account data. A reply from another Tropico game or an older DLC setup may not apply.

Before you play

  • One product tracked from raw source through processor to dock.
  • Processor work mode, input, workers and output checked.
  • Teamster path and delivery capacity considered.
  • Dock stock separated from freighter departure timing.
  • Route product, volume, rate, standing and era checked in the active UI.
  • Mission/sandbox, platform and DLC stated in any public question.

Frequently asked questions

Does a positive factory output mean the product has been exported?

No. The manual describes separate teamster delivery to the dock and a later freighter shipment.

Can a trade route fix missing dock inventory?

No. It changes trade terms for a volume; production and logistics must still deliver the goods.

Are export prices constant across eras?

The manual says some goods vary in value by era; check the current in-game trade and Almanac panels.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 6, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Kalypso: Tropico 6 PC Manual (Official)

Publisher's English PC manual explains production-to-teamster-to-dock exports, freighters, trade licenses and mandate/election loss conditions. It predates later DLC and does not establish every current menu label or console control; use the in-game Almanac/status panels for the active save.

What changed in this revision

November 6, 2026: added a stage-by-stage export diagnostic from Kalypso's PC manual; no island economy or shipment was tested.
