Classify the risk before spending

Tropico 6's manual describes the status bar as including money, population and election support, and the control panel as showing date/mandate time. A campaign loss from a Colonial mandate expiring is not the same problem as losing a later election.

Use the current task and political UI

The manual's tutorial progression covers economy, politics, public transport and tourism; missions have independent objectives across eras. Therefore, a general sandbox tip may not satisfy a specific mission condition. Read the task tracker and current mission text before constructing a new chain.

  1. Pause if needed and write down the exact timer or support warning.
  2. For a mandate problem, open the active task tracker and compare each Crown task's requirement, reward and remaining time.
  3. For an election problem, inspect current election support and the Politics/Almanac views before choosing a policy, edict or service.
  4. Check the active era, mission, difficulty and DLC rules; do not apply a later-era action to a Colonial save.
  5. Make one targeted change, then re-read the same timer/support indicator. Treat any forecast as uncertain until the game resolves it.

Ask for help with the exact scenario

If the UI remains unclear, a useful discussion post names the mission/sandbox, era, difficulty, current mandate or election warning, and completed task. Avoid posting account details or save files that reveal private information. Community suggestions are not a substitute for the mission's own rules.

Before you play

  • Actual loss condition identified: mandate, election, invasion or another mission state.
  • Current era and mission/sandbox noted.
  • Task tracker and timer read before construction changes.
  • Election support reviewed separately from the Colonial mandate.
  • One targeted change made and the same UI indicator rechecked.
  • No guaranteed election or independence result inferred from a static worksheet.

Frequently asked questions

Are the mandate and election the same timer?

No. Kalypso's manual describes mandate time and election support as separate UI/status concepts.

Will building more housing always improve election support?

The cited manual does not establish that as a guaranteed fix. Inspect the current political and citizen information for the specific save.

Can this checklist predict whether I will win an election?

No. It records what you observe; the game state, mission, era and future events determine the result.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 6, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Kalypso: Tropico 6 PC Manual (Official)

Publisher's English PC manual explains production-to-teamster-to-dock exports, freighters, trade licenses and mandate/election loss conditions. It predates later DLC and does not establish every current menu label or console control; use the in-game Almanac/status panels for the active save.

What changed in this revision

November 6, 2026: added a mandate-versus-election decision path from Kalypso's PC manual; no campaign outcome was predicted or tested.
