Build a task queue that you can audit
A monkey is useful only when the task, required tool and expected result are clear. Team17's feature overview supports training monkeys for different tasks; it is not a full current control manual. Follow the prompt shown by your own platform rather than copying keyboard instructions.
| Task candidate | Why start here | Verify before delegating |
|---|---|---|
| One repeatable resource action | Easy to recognize whether the helper learned the demonstration | Tool/item requirement and visible learned-action state |
| Crafting support | Can reduce repetitive interaction once you know the actual recipe chain | Station, recipe and inputs are available in this world |
| Combat support | Useful only when you deliberately want a follower exposed to danger | Current equipment/order and a safe retreat plan |
| Several tasks at once | Harder to diagnose if the monkey appears idle | Do not queue until each task works separately |

Teach, verify, then scale
- Choose one low-risk repetitive action and check which tool/item the action needs in the current version.
- Use the platform's current interaction/Mimic prompt to demonstrate or assign it; controls are not assumed to be the same on keyboard and controller.
- Inspect the monkey's displayed learned action/order and confirm the expected resource or task result appears in play.
- If nothing happens, check whether the required item is equipped/available and whether the target is in reach before repeating the lesson.
- Only after the single task is clear should you teach a different action or add another monkey to the workflow; keep dangerous combat tasks separate from routine gathering.

Community reports are not a training specification
Steam and Reddit posts about monkey behavior are player-authored and may refer to an older update or a different platform. Treat them as clues to investigate, not proof of a universal number of learned tasks or range.

Before you play
- I selected one repeatable low-risk task.
- The required tool and current platform prompt are known.
- I verified the displayed order and result before adding a second job.
- I separated unverified UGC reports from Team17's feature description.
Frequently asked questions
How many tasks can one monkey learn?
The cited Team17 pages do not specify a universal current limit. Check the monkey's interface in your build; this guide does not invent a number.
Can this planner see a monkey's orders?
No. It is a local task-planning aid; it does not connect to your save or game.
