Idealized arithmetic · not gameplay data

THE FINALS body-shot estimate

Enter the damage and cadence you want to compare. The named 12.2 values below come from Embark’s note; AKM’s damage/RPM are deliberately not guessed. Assumes every body shot hits; ignores range, headshots, armor modifiers, reload, recoil, spread and later balance changes.

FCAR · magazine note: 20 (12.2; was 25)

7 ideal body hits; 0.720 seconds from first hit to last at 500 RPM.

These entered-stat estimates are not a ranking, duel prediction, or confirmed live value if Embark has since tweaked balance.

Read the patch changes as a set of tradeoffs

The FCAR receives more damage per hit but fires more slowly and carries fewer rounds. Chimera-XB gets a small damage increase plus a faster cadence. AKM's listed change is magazine capacity only. These notes alone do not establish which weapon wins in practice or in every mode.

Calculate only the narrow idealized comparison

For a body-shot-only estimate, required hits are ceil(target health ÷ damage). Idealized time from first hit to final hit is (hits − 1) × 60 ÷ rounds-per-minute. Magazine-only AKM changes do not change this calculation. This intentionally ignores missed shots and game-specific damage rules; use it as a transparent arithmetic aid, not a prediction of duel outcomes.

A practice comparison that answers more than the calculator

  1. Record the current version/patch and the weapon stats shown by the current official notes or in-game reference.
  2. Choose one target-health assumption and hold it constant across weapons. Do not mix a Light-class scenario with another class without stating why.
  3. Compare ideal body-shot hits and cadence time, then separately note magazine size and whether a reload could occur within your engagement.
  4. In a private/practice setting, if available, compare the same range and target condition; log attempts, hit rate and reloads. No such hands-on trial is claimed here.
  5. Recheck official patch notes: Embark specifically says these changes can be made without a client update and has planned another small balance pass in 12.3.

Avoid turning a patch note into a meta verdict

A list of three weapon deltas cannot support universal tier rankings. Match current weapon, class, mode, target range, platform input and build when seeking player impressions; clearly label any Steam thread as anecdotal and patch-specific.

Before you play

  • I matched the exact 12.2.0 values instead of using an old spreadsheet.
  • I set a target-health assumption and know the calculator is body-shot-only.
  • I kept magazine size separate from time-to-kill arithmetic.
  • I checked for later tweakable changes or the announced 12.3 balance pass.
  • I have not described the estimates as gameplay-tested results.

Frequently asked questions

Does a lower theoretical time mean a weapon is better?

No. The formula assumes every body shot hits and ignores range, modifiers, recoil, reload and many other real-fight factors.

Did Update 12.2 increase the AKM damage?

The cited note lists only an increase in ammo count from 34 to 36 for AKM.

Are these values guaranteed to require a client patch?

Embark says these particular balance changes are tweakable without a client update; check the live notes because values may change.

Is this a current meta tier list?

No. It is a dated stat comparison and an idealized calculator, not an observed win-rate study.

  1. Embark — THE FINALS Update 12.2.0 (Official)

Official Update 12.2.0 notes dated November 5, 2026. Records AKM magazine 34→36, Chimera-XB damage 47→48 and 260→280 RPM, FCAR damage 23→25, 530→500 RPM and magazine 25→20. Embark notes these balance changes can deploy without a client patch and says another small pass is planned in 12.3; recheck newer notes before relying on these values.
