The three rules that matter before you touch Connected Platforms
Embark's support rules make the order of account setup consequential. A platform account is not an interchangeable slot: the first connected platform is treated specially, and a platform that has been linked can only be relinked as that same account unless support intervenes.
| Question | Published rule | Safe interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| How many accounts per platform? | One account per platform on an Embark ID | Do not expect two Steam or two console accounts to coexist on one ID. |
| Can I unlink my first platform? | Not through ordinary self-service; contact support | Record which platform was first before unlinking anything else. |
| Can I replace a linked account with another account from the same platform? | Only the same account may be relinked under the stated rule | Do not use unlink/relink to move another account into the slot. |
| Will relinking transfer progress or cosmetics? | No; those remain tied to the Embark ID | Keep access to the original Embark ID and contact support for account-specific recovery. |

A low-risk check sequence
- Before changing anything, write down the platform accounts you expect to use and which one first created or linked to the Embark ID, if known.
- Sign in to the Embark ID through a platform account you already know is connected; open Account → Connected Platforms and inspect the current list.
- If an account is missing or belongs to another Embark ID, stop. Do not create another ID or unlink the current one to test a theory.
- If inviting a friend is the real problem, add them by Embark ID, confirm Crossplay is enabled for both players, review platform privacy settings and blocked-player lists, then restart both clients once.
- For a suspected mistaken first link, use Embark's official support channel. Provide platform names and the exact error, never passwords, two-factor codes or recovery codes.

Use the local preflight as a reminder, not account diagnosis
The checker below converts your selected linking goal into a cautious next step. It does not log in, read the connected-platform page, validate ownership, contact Embark or change an account. Cross-platform play and cross-progression are separate capabilities; a successful invitation is not proof that two accounts share a progression identity.

Community reports need the account context
When comparing a Steam discussion, include platform family, whether each user is on the intended Embark ID, the exact error and whether the issue is linking, inviting or progression. Similar messages can have different causes. Do not post account emails, IDs you consider private, receipts or recovery information publicly.

Before you play
- I checked the current Connected Platforms list before making a change.
- I identified the first platform account if possible.
- I did not expect unlink/relink to transfer cosmetics or progress.
- I kept invitations/cross-play troubleshooting separate from save progression.
- I will use Embark Support for account-specific correction.
Frequently asked questions
Can I unlink the first platform account myself?
Embark says the first platform account is permanent and can only be removed by contacting Customer Support.
If I link the same Steam account to a new Embark ID, will the old progress follow?
No. Embark says progress, rewards and cosmetics stay tied to the previous Embark ID.
Does playing together prove cross-progression is set up?
No. Cross-play sessions and account progression are different questions; verify the connected account separately.
Can this page inspect my Embark account?
No. The checker uses only your selections in this tab; it does not sign in or contact Embark.
