Choose the correct transfer route
Do not start with a generic 'cross-save' assumption. EA separates PlayStation and Xbox console families and makes the PS import direction explicit. Confirm ownership of the required game version before expecting the destination client to expose an import option.
- Write down source and destination consoles, including generation and family (PlayStation or Xbox).
- Confirm you own the Cross-Gen Bundle or the game for both console generations as EA requires.
- For PS4 to PS5, prepare the PS4 system save using PlayStation's transfer method, then launch the PS5 version.
- Choose Import PS4 System Save Data only after checking whether the PS5 save is worth preserving.
- For Xbox One/Series, sign in to the same Xbox profile and allow the Xbox Cloud save to sync before launching.

Transfer matrix
| Source → destination | EA-documented route | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| PS4 → PS5 | Import PS4 System Save Data in PS5 game | One-way; confirm before accepting overwrite prompt |
| PS5 → PS4 | Not supported by EA's page | Do not assume reverse import |
| Xbox One ↔ Xbox Series X|S | Xbox Cloud game saves | Same Xbox family/account and cloud sync required |
| PlayStation ↔ Xbox | No transfer between console families | A shared EA account does not convert save data |
| PC ↔ console | Not covered by EA console transfer guide | Do not infer a PC cross-save path |

Preserve the destination state
EA's PS5 flow explicitly warns that the PS4 import can overwrite PS5 data. Before confirming, identify the PS5 save and preserve it through PlayStation's supported backup/cloud features if you need it. Community posts cannot reverse an overwrite and may refer to another game or platform.
- On PS5, inspect the current Jedi: Survivor save and note its progress before importing.
- Use the console's supported backup/cloud options to preserve data you may want to keep.
- Do not confirm the import overwrite unless the PS4 state is the one you intend to carry forward.
- After import/cloud sync, load the game and verify the chapter and playthrough before creating a new save.
- If the expected import is missing, stop and contact EA/console support with direction and edition details.
