Crucible class preflight

Confirm the class gate and target. It cannot read levels or game progression.

Next step: Crucible access is listed for Level 25 classes. Level this specific class or use another mode; don't queue based on a different class's level.

Check access and the progress target

Patch 15 notes identify Crucible as a new endgame PvE mode available for Level 25 classes. The official September update says each class has its own Penances and progression, and gives Tactical XP as a class-specific example.

Use a no-assumption run log

The official update supports per-class tracking but does not guarantee a fixed XP amount per mission or hours-to-completion. Record the starting and ending bar for the class you played. Keep mode, patch and selected Penance conditions attached to the observation.

  1. Open the Battle Barge and confirm the selected class is Level 25 before entering Crucible.
  2. Choose the Penances you intend to advance and read any modifiers in the current mode UI; do not copy an old build's selections blindly.
  3. Record class, patch, mode, mission/result and the visible class progression before starting.
  4. After the match, return to the same class's Crucible page and record its visible progress. If another class was used, log it separately.
  5. If progress appears stuck, capture a sanitized screenshot and compare against current hotfix notes before asserting a bug. Report reproducible steps through Focus Together.

Don't budget around unverified grind estimates

Community threads estimate time by assuming a particular run length, success rate, modifier and XP result. Those inputs vary and developer notes say progression speed may be tuned. Use your own measured successful runs only for a personal estimate; this guide intentionally does not supply a universal hours-to-unlock figure.

Keep class progression evidence separate

A class-specific system can look like lost XP if a player changes class between the before and after screens. This guide does not estimate a universal bar increase; it gives a repeatable check that preserves the relevant context.

  1. Record the class name and visible progress before queueing.
  2. Keep mode, selected Penances, patch/build and match outcome with the note.
  3. After returning to the Battle Barge, inspect the same class and compare its own displayed state.
  4. If the bar or Penance appears unchanged, capture the relevant screen and report the repeatable path through the official community/support channel.

Before you play

  • I confirmed the target class itself is Level 25.
  • I selected the class whose Crucible progression I actually want.
  • I recorded visible UI progress and did not assume shared class XP or a universal grind rate.

Frequently asked questions

Does Tactical Crucible XP level my Heavy?

No. The official update says each class has its own progression and gives Tactical XP as a class-specific example.

Can I enter with a lower-level class if a teammate is Level 25?

The official Patch 15 access rule is Level 25 classes; use the current UI and do not rely on old matchmaking-bug reports.
