The official warning is specific, not a universal reset rule
Keen's update announcement labels Space Engineers 2 as Early Access Alpha and says some features need a new game to be started, naming Tutorial Stages and Contracts. That is enough to explain why an older world may not present those progression elements, but it is not evidence that all content from Hostile Encounters is absent from older saves.
The same notice lists combat NPCs, new blocks, ore visual changes and other additions separately. It does not state that each of those needs a fresh world. Avoid turning one narrowly worded save warning into a blanket claim that an existing base or world is unusable.
| What is missing? | What the source supports | Safe next check |
|---|---|---|
| Reworked Tutorial Stages or Contracts | Some tutorial stages and contracts need a new game | Keep the old world; compare with a separate new world if you want those features |
| A Combat NPC encounter | The announcement does not say every encounter requires a new save | Check the current build, world context and Planet Verdure scope before concluding it is a save issue |
| A new block, ore appearance or flora | No blanket fresh-save requirement is stated for every listed addition | Check the current build and the specific feature's live availability; do not reset solely from this note |
| The same tutorial/contract is missing in a new world | The old-save note alone does not explain this result | Record the build and exact stage/contract, then check current official updates or support |

Compare worlds without risking the one you care about
A comparison is more informative when you can say which world and build showed the behavior. Do not overwrite or delete the established world as a first troubleshooting step; the source does not instruct players to do that, and this page cannot inspect a save or guarantee a migration path.
- Record the exact game build shown by your installation and identify whether the affected world existed before the Hostile Encounters update.
- Name the missing item precisely: a Tutorial Stage, a named Contract, a combat encounter, a block, or an ore marker are different symptoms.
- If the question is specifically about Tutorial Stages or Contracts, preserve the established world and create a separate new world only if you are comfortable doing so.
- Compare the same named stage or contract in the separate world; do not infer that all other update features require that new world.
- If the feature is also missing in the separate world, record build, world type and exact steps, then check the current official announcement or contact Keen support.

Use the local preflight as a reminder, not a save reader
The planner below only combines the answers you select with Keen's published wording. It never opens, copies, edits or uploads a world save. A result that recommends comparing a new world is not proof that your existing save is defective or that the comparison will resolve the issue.

Treat the Alpha notes as versioned evidence
Space Engineers 2 is still an evolving Alpha. Keen keeps older builds available through Steam's Beta tab according to the announcement, so a player intentionally running a prior version may see different stages or behavior. Check the installed build and newer official notes before applying this dated guide to a later release.

Before you play
- I recorded the installed build and whether the world predates Hostile Encounters.
- I identified whether the missing item is a Tutorial Stage, Contract, NPC encounter or another feature.
- I kept my established world and did not treat the note as a universal reset instruction.
- If comparing a new world, I recorded its result separately and checked the current official notes.
Frequently asked questions
Do all Hostile Encounters features require a new world?
Keen says some Tutorial Stages and Contracts need a new game. The announcement does not say every NPC, block, ore change or other update feature requires one.
Should I delete my old world?
No such step is in Keen's note. Preserve it; use a separate world for a comparison only if you choose to.
Does the checker read my save?
No. It is a browser-local checklist based only on the answers you select.
