Check the documented scope before looking for a failure
Keen's announcement says the current Combat NPC foundation was limited to Planet Verdure and that these NPCs had not yet gained Jetpack Technology. It describes Renegades as outlaws/pirates and Boatmen as a heavier Leader type in Renegade Encounters. An encounter expectation outside those stated limits may be a scope mismatch, not proof that a world is broken.
NPCs are documented as able to navigate voxel terrain, player-built interiors and doors; avoid dynamic objects; patrol, search, take cover and change position when cover is destroyed; and attack players and player-controlled grids. These are the announced capabilities, not a promise that every path or combat behavior works perfectly in every geometry or build.
| Observation | Compare with official notes | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Looking for Combat NPCs away from Verdure | Keen limited the NPC foundation to Planet Verdure | The expectation is outside the documented launch scope |
| Expecting jetpack-equipped enemies | Keen said NPCs had not yet accessed Jetpack Technology | Do not treat absence as a bug without newer notes changing this limit |
| Boatman appears as a heavier encounter leader | Keen calls Boatmen a Leader/Heavy type in Renegade Encounters | This matches the published description |
| NPC stuck around doors or cover | Doors, interiors, cover and cover changes are documented behaviors | Record exact layout and build; the capability list does not guarantee every route succeeds |
| NPC invulnerable in Creative mode or encounter spawn crashes | Keen's 22 October notes list fixes for both symptoms | Check the installed build; report a repeat with the exact steps |

Follow a low-risk diagnosis order
The point of this sequence is to distinguish an expectation the Alpha has not promised from a reproducible defect. It is not a combat build or a guarantee that a particular encounter spawns.
- Record the exact build and whether the mode is Survival or Creative before changing settings or leaving the world.
- Record the planet/location and encounter or contract name. For Combat NPCs, compare the location with Keen's stated Planet Verdure scope.
- Describe the observed behavior rather than only saying the encounter is broken: no NPC, no movement, invulnerability, a crash on spawn, or another exact symptom.
- If testing structure navigation or cover, describe the relevant door, corridor, obstruction or destroyed-cover state; do not claim one test proves all NPC pathfinding.
- Check the dated follow-up notes against your installed build. If the listed fix should apply and the same symptom repeats, use Keen's support portal with a minimal reproducible report.

Use the report builder without exposing private data
The local form turns your own build, mode, location, steps and result into a draft. It does not read a save, capture logs, attach a screenshot, submit a ticket or send data to GamerWin. Review the generated text and use Keen's official support page; do not paste account credentials or private files into a public discussion.

A fix in the notes is not a guarantee for every installation
Keen's 22 October 2026 follow-up lists a fix for NPCs being invulnerable in Creative mode and a fix for a crash when encounters spawned. This is useful version evidence, not proof that all later reports share the same cause. If the issue persists, preserve the world, record the current build, and check for a newer official note before changing files or rolling back.

Before you play
- I recorded the exact build, mode, planet/location and encounter or contract name.
- I compared the expectation with the published Verdure and no-jetpack limits.
- I checked the 20–22 October follow-up fixes against the build I actually use.
- My report separates expected behavior, numbered reproduction steps and observed result.
Frequently asked questions
Do Combat NPCs spawn everywhere?
Keen's Hostile Encounters announcement described their foundations as limited to Planet Verdure at that time. Check newer official notes before relying on this limit later.
Are jetpack enemies part of Hostile Encounters?
The announcement said NPCs had not yet accessed Jetpack Technology. That is a dated Alpha limitation, not a claim about future builds.
Keen fixed Creative NPC invulnerability; does that mean my issue cannot happen?
No. The 22 October note records a fix, but it cannot verify your installed build or reproduce your world. Report a repeat with version and steps.
Does the report builder send my issue to Keen?
No. It only formats text in this page. You choose whether to copy and submit it through Keen's official support portal.
