Pick by the part you want to spend time doing
The 1.0 release introduced distinct modes rather than a single difficulty slider. Use the mode descriptions as intent, not as a promise that every system disappears or every server permits every mode.
| If your priority is… | Start by considering… | Verify before committing |
|---|---|---|
| A traditional survival-focused journey | Survival | Current mode label and world/server settings |
| Growing a tribe and handling more management | Tribe | Which tribe systems are active in that mode |
| More direct combat, fewer survival chores | Warrior | The official description says combat is emphasized; check current challenge and progression rules |
| Playing on a hosted/public server | The mode the server actually offers | Server configuration; don't rely on a single-player mode guide |

Preflight a new save
- Decide whether survival management, settlement growth or direct combat is the activity you want most; do not choose by a difficulty label alone.
- Read the mode description shown in your installed build and the current CampFire 1.0/news post.
- For multiplayer, ask the host which mode and rules the server actually runs. Official product features list multiple multiplayer types but do not promise every mode on every server.
- Start a short, low-commitment session and inspect the game's own onboarding before choosing a permanent route.
- If a discussion recommends a different mode, check its date, platform, DLC and server context; treat it as player testimony, not universal policy.

Patch and server caveat
This page does not promise that mode switching preserves a save or that modes can be changed after creation. Confirm the current in-game prompt before starting; back up a save through the platform's supported tools before experimenting.

Before you play
- I chose a play loop, not a mode based on hearsay.
- I read the current mode description in my build.
- For multiplayer, I confirmed the host's actual mode and server rules.
- I did not assume saves can switch modes or carry between worlds.
Frequently asked questions
Is Warrior Mode just Survival with easier hunger?
CampFire describes Warrior as combat-focused and reducing the emphasis on survival/tribe management. Check the current game description for exact systems; this guide does not promise a specific list of removed mechanics.
Can I join any server in Tribe or Warrior mode?
Do not assume so. Confirm server-specific settings with its operator and the current official release information.
