Food-days and access notes

Record your current panels before changing a production chain.

Group not recorded · food days not recorded · build not recorded

Record displayed food, access and fulfillment values.

Notes reset on reload. This tool does not calculate consumption, fulfillment, seasons or production; V71 and settings may change values.

Read the live reserve and food-access controls

The community food reference describes food days, species preferences and separate sources/processing chains; it is not an official V71 balance guarantee. The developer's V71 announcement specifically warns of changes to population growth, laws and balance, so read the active city's resource and Access panels before copying a ratio.

  1. Open the current food/resources summary and record displayed food days, each food quantity, and the population/race mix.
  2. Open Access for the relevant species and check allowed foods, servings and preference indicators. A stockpile can exist while access settings or distribution keep the intended group from using it as expected.
  3. Trace the lowest food type back one step: farm/field, climate and seed availability, harvest/storage, bakery or other processor, and final food access.
  4. Use the current in-game panel to distinguish total stored days from preferred-food fulfillment. A total reserve and a desired food mix answer different questions.
  5. Avoid increasing every farm simultaneously. Select one shortage or access problem, change one input/workforce/storage condition and compare the same panels afterward.
  6. If comparing advice across versions, record the exact V71 branch/build. Treat older wiki values as a clue, not a current production benchmark.

Use a private reserve worksheet, not a hidden simulator

The local worksheet records the values you read; it does not simulate citizens, seasons, crop yields or consumption. The external player forum can help compare symptoms, but replies may mix versions and settings.

  1. Enter displayed build/branch, population and the exact food-days value you see.
  2. Record which food item is short, the current climate/crop and the next production or storage step you checked.
  3. Change one cause and compare the same display after a meaningful in-game interval.
  4. If you ask the community, include version, settings and UI values; label any unknown value instead of filling it with a guessed ratio.

Before you play

  • I recorded the actual in-game food-days and Access values.
  • I separated stored quantity from preferred-food fulfillment.
  • I traced a specific production/storage stage before expanding farms.
  • I recorded V71/build and did not assume wiki values are current.
  • I understand the worksheet does not predict food output.

Frequently asked questions

How much food does each citizen need?

Do not rely on a universal number here: servings/settings, species and version matter. Read the current Access and food-days panels, then use the community wiki as a version-labelled reference.

Does this planner calculate days until starvation?

No. It stores notes you enter and cannot model consumption, production, seasons or the live city.

Why is this guide cautious about the wiki?

The developer's V71 announcement says population growth and balance changed and warns that saves will break; community documentation may not yet match every branch.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 7, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Songs of Syx developer: V71 — Reign of Terror (Official)

Developer-published Steam announcement index. Its V71 post says the update changes population growth, laws, slavery and other systems, and warns that saves and balance will change. This guide is therefore version-sensitive; consult the matching post for the installed branch.

  2. Songs of Syx Wiki.gg: Food (Community)

Community-maintained food-mechanics reference checked November 7, 2026. Species preferences, servings and fulfillment can change with settings/version; use the in-game Access and food-days panels as the live authority.

  3. Songs of Syx Wiki.gg: Farming and Food (Community)

Community-maintained wiki checked November 7, 2026. It documents annual harvests, climate/crop constraints, moisture guidance and post-harvest handling, but may lag the current V71 branch. Treat it as a lead and verify crop tooltips and resource panels in the installed version.

  4. Songs of Syx Steam Community Discussions (Community)

External player discussion board; posts are anecdotal, may mix versions and are not verified by GamerWin. Include V71/build, race, climate, displayed food days, crop panel and changed settings.

What changed in this revision

November 7, 2026: first publication. Added a version-aware reserve/access diagnostic based on developer notes and clearly labelled community references; no city was tested.
