Start by identifying where you manage the Pack

EA's instructions differ by purchase or management route. The EA app shows owned add-ons; the in-game Marketplace provides a Manage Storage view for Marketplace content; consoles use their platform stores. Use the branch that matches the copy and platform you actually launch, not the platform you first purchased on.

PC and Mac: check ownership before downloading

EA Help says the EA app replaced Origin as the main download/launch platform for PC and Mac, and that the base game must be installed and updated before additional Packs. For a Pack bought or managed in the EA app, open the Library, select The Sims 4, then Manage > Manage Add-ons. If it is listed as owned but not installed, use its Download control and wait for completion.

  1. Confirm you are signed into the account and launcher used for the game copy you launch.
  2. Open Library > The Sims 4 > Manage > Manage Add-ons and confirm the Pack appears as owned.
  3. If the Pack is owned but not installed, select Download and let it finish before reopening the game.
  4. If you acquired it through the in-game Marketplace, use My Collection > Manage Storage and inspect the Installed / Not Installed label instead.

Console and in-game activation checks

EA's Pack page says Xbox Packs install automatically after downloading unless automatic updates are turned off; PlayStation Packs require a manual download before the installation step completes. Once the platform download is complete, restart The Sims 4 and check Pack Selection. A Pack can be installed yet inactive in the current save, so an absent item does not always mean a failed purchase.

  1. On PlayStation, find The Sims 4 in the console Library/Store add-ons and manually download the purchased Pack if needed.
  2. On Xbox, confirm the Pack is downloaded and check whether automatic updates/downloads were disabled.
  3. Wait for the platform to finish installing, then relaunch the game.
  4. Use Pack Selection to confirm whether the Pack is active for the save you are playing. If ownership exists but platform download fails, follow the linked console storefront support rather than purchasing again.

A practical decision table

These states point to different next actions. The table avoids the common mistake of treating an owned license as proof of local installation or current-save activation.

Version and platform limits

EA Help's Pack installation article was checked November 5, 2026 and includes EA app, Marketplace and console paths. Storefront labels and menus are maintained by EA and the console platform; if an exact label differs, follow the current official support route for that platform. This guide does not determine account entitlements, check live service incidents or guarantee Pack availability in a specific region.

Before you play

  • I checked the account and storefront that match the game version I launch.
  • I confirmed whether the Pack is owned and separately whether it is installed.
  • I followed the right PC/Mac, Marketplace, PlayStation or Xbox branch.
  • I restarted the game and checked Pack Selection before concluding it is missing.

Frequently asked questions

If the Pack is owned, should it already be installed?

EA says digital Packs should usually install automatically, but its support page documents separate manual installation steps when they do not. Check the platform's install status.

Can a Pack be installed but unavailable in my save?

Yes. EA documents Pack Selection as a separate feature. Confirm the Pack is active for the save you are currently using.

Should I buy it again if it is missing in-game?

No—not before checking account, ownership, installation and active Pack Selection. If the store confirms ownership but the download is missing, contact the relevant platform support.
