Restart without inventing a recovery step
Activision's FAQ directs console players to close the game and restart from the last save point; on PC, exit and restart from that point. It does not prescribe replacing or editing save files as the first response.
| After the fault | Officially documented expectation | Next decision |
|---|---|---|
| Game resumes normally | Load from last recorded save point | Check progress before making further changes |
| Recent action is missing | It may have occurred after the last autosave | Repeat only if safe; the game has no manual save |
| Crash repeats | FAQ recommends restart from last save point | Record platform, trigger and whether autosave icon appeared |
| Save no longer loads | FAQ does not describe file replacement | Preserve copies and contact platform/publisher support |

Collect a useful report before changing anything
The official instructions focus on restarting from the last save point. If that fails repeatedly, note the exact trigger, platform, whether the autosave icon had appeared and any error code. Do not download a replacement save or edit profile data based on an anecdotal post.
- Close the frozen/crashed game through the platform's normal process; restart from the title menu as Activision describes.
- Record platform, game version if visible, area/action, crash time and what happened immediately before the fault.
- Note whether the blue autosave indicator was visible or had completed; do not claim an exact saved location unless you checked it.
- If the crash repeats, check official platform/game support for current diagnostics and keep your original profile intact.
- Use the Steam discussion board only to compare similar PC reports; verify platform and build and do not run posted executable files.
- If support requests a save/log, share it only through the official support route and redact personal data where possible.

Frequently asked questions
Can Activision guarantee recovery of post-checkpoint progress?
No. The FAQ says to restart from the last save point; it does not promise recovery of actions after the last autosave.
Should I force quit a frozen console?
Follow the platform's normal close/restart process; Activision says console users should back out to dashboard, close the game and restart.
Can this tool diagnose my crash?
No. It helps organize information you enter and does not inspect your device or save.

- Activision Support: Sekiro FAQ and save behavior (Official)
Activision says Sekiro periodically autosaves, shows a blue flame indicator, has no manual save feature, and after a freeze/crash resumes from the last save point. The support page lists legacy console/PC availability; it does not describe every storefront's cloud retention.
- FromSoftware: Sekiro web manual (PC controls and safe quit) (Official)
FromSoftware's web manual says the previous data is overwritten at autosave and advises ending through Pause Menu > Settings > Quit Game; exiting another way may not resume from the exit state. The linked manual is the Windows edition; menu names can vary slightly by platform/language.
