Crew privacy setup reminder

This does not check a lobby, voice device, platform privacy setting or invite.

Choose Closed Crew; Rare says it will not try to fill your crew. Review voice and platform privacy options before sailing.

Choose the crew behavior before matchmaking

Rare says Open Crew attempts to fill the crew with other online players until the crew is full. Closed Crew does not attempt to fill it, leaving control of who joins with the crew. These settings affect joining behavior; they are not a promise about every invitation or platform's account-level privacy controls.

Set up and verify in a low-risk order

Review the crew-fill choice and chat safety preferences separately; neither one can validate the whole online session.

  1. Decide whether you want the game to fill open slots or keep the crew closed.
  2. Choose Open or Closed Crew while creating the crew; verify the displayed selection before inviting anyone.
  3. Review voice and text/chat options in the current Safety Options menu.
  4. Ask each player to check their console or PC privacy settings separately; the game checklist cannot see them.
  5. If someone cannot join, compare platform, account-link status, cross-play settings and the exact error message without posting private account details.

Separate crew privacy from cross-progression

Crew selection controls how the session is filled; cross-progression depends on the Xbox account described by Rare. A Closed Crew does not repair account links, and a shared account profile does not automatically make a crew private.

Community posts are not account support

Player discussions can help compare a symptom, but never publish passwords, recovery codes, full account email addresses or private purchase evidence. Use Rare Support for account-link disputes.
