Identify which save owns the thing you care about

The support answer distinguishes the Dwarf from the world. It is easy to mistake inventory transfer for full campaign transfer, especially when a recipe was learned in one world and not yet found in another.

Use a pre-join checklist

The publisher page is a concise 2023 support explanation rather than an account-side inspection. Ask the host what world/mode is open and confirm the current client version before bringing a character with important items.

  1. Name the host and the exact world/save you intend to enter.
  2. Record whether this is Campaign or Sandbox and which DLC/world content is active.
  3. Check the Dwarf's carried inventory in the current world; do not assume storage chests travel with the character.
  4. Ask the host to confirm the relevant Lore, Recipe, building and waypoint state in their world.
  5. If you need a particular unlock, discover or verify it in the destination world before planning around it.

If the destination looks wrong, avoid overwriting saves

A missing world-owned unlock is not by itself proof that a character save is corrupt. Pause and identify the world file/host before attempting restore or migration.

  1. Exit the session and write down the exact character, world name, host platform and displayed build.
  2. Compare the symptom with current North Beach support instructions for the relevant platform and mode.
  3. Do not delete, rename or replace a save based on an unrelated forum post.
  4. If you need help, describe which world-bound item/state is missing and when it was last seen; never upload raw save files publicly.

Frequently asked questions

Will my base follow my Dwarf?

No; publisher support says buildings and most progress are stored on the world.

Do recipes always carry over?

The support page says Lore and Recipes are tied to worlds and may need rediscovery; verify the destination world.

Does this guide test cross-platform play?

No. It explains save ownership boundaries, not platform crossplay or a particular host configuration.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 7, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. North Beach Games Support: Character inventory versus world data (Official)

Publisher/developer support says a Dwarf's inventory carries across worlds, while Lore, Recipes and most progress (tutorial, buildings, waypoints and story moments) are stored on the world and may need to be rediscovered. The support page is dated 2023; verify current UI and mode before moving a character. No save was opened or copied.

  2. North Beach Games Support: Restore Epic and Steam saves/backups (Official)

Support documents separate Epic/Steam folder guidance and world backup files. Paths and folder separation are Windows-PC and storefront-specific; do not apply them to consoles. Back up the entire relevant save folder before any restore and follow current support instructions exactly. No file was modified.

  3. Return to Moria Steam Discussions (Community)

External player posts are anecdotal and may concern a different world, edition, patch or host setup. Identify Steam/Epic/console, Campaign or Sandbox, save owner, host/server type and exact symptom; never upload raw private save data or account details.

What changed in this revision
