Pick by control preference, not a promise of better aim
KRAFTON describes PUBG Standard as an easier-to-learn option for players familiar with other console titles, while Shooter Standard emphasizes consistent mappings across situations. The notes do not rank one preset as faster or more accurate. Existing saved settings are retained after the update; the two new presets themselves do not support customization.
| If your priority is… | Start with… | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Familiar console conventions | PUBG Standard | New preset cannot be customized |
| Similar actions mapped consistently | Shooter Standard | New preset cannot be customized |
| Keeping a personalized layout | Existing Custom or Type A/B/C | Check that every important action is still assigned |

Practice the radial safely before a live fight
Update 43.2 says the console Message Radial is active while the mapped button is held; the selected message fires when that button is released. You can navigate with the right stick while moving, and enemy markers can be placed whether aiming or not. Do not infer that every controller mapping is identical: inspect your current bindings.
- In Settings, confirm the mapped Message Radial control and which page it opens.
- In a safe practice or low-pressure situation, hold the mapped control to open the radial.
- Move the right stick toward one clearly labeled message and release the mapped control to activate it.
- Try an enemy marker once while aiming and once without aiming; confirm the current build responds as expected.
- If you use a custom preset and a binding behaves unexpectedly, compare the exact action assignment in Settings before resetting anything; resetting may discard your own layout.

Scope boundary and where to discuss a control issue
Update 43.2 explicitly marks these preset changes as console-only. The update's broader radial text and other interaction changes may apply differently; read the relevant note rather than transferring a controller-only instruction to PC. A bug report should include console model, preset, custom binding, input sequence and update version. Remove account IDs and private party details before posting.

A practical first-session comparison
Rather than changing every control at once, choose one preset and practice three actions: opening the radial, selecting a message while moving, and placing a marker without aiming. If the new preset's non-customizable mapping is not comfortable, compare it with your retained Custom or Type A/B/C layout. This is a reversible preference comparison, not a measurable aim-performance test.
- Write down the original preset and one control that feels unintuitive.
- Try one candidate preset in a safe mode and check the same three actions.
- Keep whichever mapping is easier for you to execute; do not infer a competitive advantage from the preset name.
