Read the current account before signing out

The help article describes an apparent reset-to-level-1 case caused by signing in through a different login method or email, creating a separate account. It says the original progress remains intact in that scenario. That is a plausible diagnosis, not proof that all missing-progress cases are harmless or that a particular login will work.

  1. While still signed in, open the app's Settings → Account screen.
  2. Write down for yourself which login method is shown and which email/account category is associated; do not paste a full address into a public forum or this site.
  3. Compare it with the provider you originally used (Google, Apple, Facebook, Pokémon Trainer Central, Niantic Kids or another currently supported method).
  4. If this is clearly the wrong identity, sign out and use the same original provider plus its original account. Do not create or link a replacement account during diagnosis.
  5. If the account identity is unknown, stop guessing and follow the official Account Recovery path. Password resets belong to the login provider, not GamerWin.

Distinguish identity mismatch from another support case

A level-1 avatar after an alternate provider login differs from an authentication error, suspension notice, child-account method restriction, or service outage. The login-help page routes these cases to provider-specific password recovery, network checks, age-appropriate sign-in options or Pokémon GO support. Do not repeatedly create accounts: that can make the identity trail harder to follow.

  1. For a login error, check the provider login and connection, then use official sign-in help.
  2. For a suspension notice, use the official appeal route rather than trying another identity.
  3. For a child account, follow its supported sign-in options; do not change birth date or use another person's credentials.

Ask the player community without exposing your account

Community posts can help identify a widespread outage or recent interface change, but they cannot confirm your account identity. Describe the symptom, device and app version only. Remove trainer name, friend code, email, location, receipts and recovery details; use official support for account-specific recovery.

Safe recovery sequence

The low-risk order is identify, retry, then contact support—not unlink first. The current help page says support cannot disclose the sign-in email for security reasons, so account recovery has to follow the provider and recovery methods available to you.

  1. Do not share a full address, password or recovery code in a discussion.
  2. Use the provider's own password reset if that provider account itself is inaccessible.
  3. If you still cannot identify the original sign-in, use Pokémon GO's official Account Recovery and Sign-In Issue support options.
  4. Keep screenshots redacted if support requests them; remove unrelated email, payment and location details.

Before you play

  • I noted the current login method before signing out.
  • I will retry only the original provider and account combination.
  • I have not unlinked, deleted or created accounts while diagnosing.
  • I am using official account recovery for identity-specific help.
  • I will not post email, password, trainer code, location or recovery token.

Frequently asked questions

Does level 1 mean my Pokémon GO progress is gone?

Not necessarily. The official help article says a different login provider/email may open another account while the original progress remains on its original sign-in.

Can Niantic tell me which email I used?

The official help text says support cannot provide the sign-in email for security reasons. Follow its recovery flow rather than sharing personal information publicly.

Should I unlink the login I am currently using?

Not as a first step. Record the current identity and determine the original provider before changing account links.

Sources & revision notes

Editorial revision: November 6, 2026; not a gameplay test date. The reference notes identify source limits and version differences.

  1. Pokémon GO Help: My progress was reset to level 1 (Official)

The help article now redirects to Scopely Explore. It says apparent level-1 progress may mean a different login method or email opened a separate account; it recommends signing out and returning with the original provider/email. This is not proof every missing-progress case is a login mismatch.

  2. Pokémon GO Help: Joining Battles Remotely (Official)

This article now redirects to Scopely Explore. It documents Remote Raid Pass limits and Max Battle entry costs, but explicitly says caps and attack-power adjustments may change for events. Check the live lobby and current event notice before spending a pass.

  3. Pokémon GO Help: Help with Sign-in Issues (Official)

The current help article routes account recovery to official support and explains that passwords are managed by the login provider. Use it for account-specific recovery rather than publishing personal login details.

  4. Pokémon GO Reddit community (Community)

External user-generated discussion; anecdotes and event reports can be outdated. Do not share trainer credentials, recovery codes, email addresses or location-sensitive information.
