Separate today's demo from the upcoming full edition
The public base Pikmin 4 and the Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy are distinct access states. Nintendo's November 2 news post describes the demo as the Sun-Speckled Terrace opening area and two Dandori Academy stages; a November 4 support update says the demo is now being distributed. Check the regional eShop if it is not visible. Nintendo still gives November 12 as the full-edition launch date, so a demo stage is not proof that the complete Academy catalog or exam features are already available.
| What you have / date | Nintendo's published scope | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Original Pikmin 4 on Switch, November 6 | Existing game and its story/Dandori content | That it already includes the new 72-stage Dandori Academy mode |
| Switch 2 Edition demo, after Ver. 2.0.0 | Sun-Speckled Terrace opening area plus two Academy stages; Nintendo says the demo is being distributed | Full campaign, all Academy stages, exams, or leaderboard access |
| Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, before November 12 | Nintendo's stated launch date has not arrived yet | A pre-order or demo grants the full edition today |
| Full Switch 2 edition after launch | Academy stages release over time; exams listed Friday–Sunday | All 72 stages available on day one |

Separate internet access from Nintendo Switch Online
Nintendo's Ver. 2.0.0 notice says an internet connection is required to take Dandori Academy exams and download distributed stages. The launch notice separately lists a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership for online features. These are different requirements: the cited notices do not say NSO is required for local multiplayer or offline/local practice, but do not promise that an exam or undownloaded stage works offline.
- Check the console and product title: Nintendo announces this Academy edition for Switch 2, with release date November 12, 2026.
- For the demo, look for Ver. 2.0.0 and the regional eShop listing. Its published demo scope is the opening area and two Academy stages.
- After launch, confirm you have the full Pikmin 4 game required for the add-on content; upgrade-pack owners can play from November 12.
- To download newly distributed stages or take Academy exams, plan for an internet connection.
- For online leaderboard features, verify internet access, a Nintendo Account and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. These online feature requirements are not proof that local co-op requires NSO.
- If a specific exam or stage is missing, record the date, region, edition, update and exact menu message; Nintendo says stages are distributed over time.

Recheck after November 12
This guide is intentionally dated before the announced launch. Store listings, regional availability, upgrade pack details, stage rollout and exam schedules can change. After release, prioritize the live Nintendo eShop page and in-game menu over this pre-launch checkpoint; report a correction with the region and displayed version.
