Check the unlock before collecting a huge stockpile
Older videos can show a different technology requirement or construction recipe. Open the Breeding Farm entry in your own Technology menu and read every prerequisite before spending materials. The community's 1.0-era entry now includes a Lily and Lyleen prerequisite as well as the level requirement; do not assume an early-access video still applies.
Once unlocked, build the farm inside the base area with an unobstructed entrance. Select parents of opposite sex and confirm that both are assigned to the farm. A Pal merely walking nearby is not proof of a valid assignment. Use the assignment controls available in your build.

Budget regular Cake, not a perfect breeding chain
Use the calculator below to work out a batch and subtract ingredients already in storage. It calculates ingredients only: it does not predict offspring, passives, incubation duration or the number of attempts a desired result will take. Cake variants have separate recipes and are outside this calculator.
For a first experiment, five regular Cakes require 25 Flour, 40 Red Berries, 35 Milk, 40 Eggs and 10 Honey before subtracting your stock. A small batch gives you a chance to confirm the farm works without tying up every ingredient in a speculative breeding chain.
Plan the slowest ingredient first. The community reference lists Chikipi, Mozzarina and Beegarde as Ranch sources for Eggs, Milk and Honey respectively. Flour also needs its production chain; five bags of wheat are not automatically five Flour. Check the Mill recipe and workers rather than treating raw materials as finished ingredients.

Produce one egg, then verify the result
Put completed Cake in the farm's own chest. Check the farm status and wait for a completed production cycle. Collect the egg and use a suitable incubator; world settings and temperature conditions affect how waiting feels. A server's timer can differ from a solo video's timer.
After hatching, compare the offspring against the specific goal you wrote down. For example, 'a worker with the passive I am tracking' is testable. 'The strongest Pal' is not. Label useful parents and keep them separate from a disposal batch so you do not lose the trait you were trying to preserve.
- Record parent species, sex and relevant passive names.
- Confirm both farm assignments and a Cake in the correct chest.
- Collect and incubate one egg.
- Record the actual offspring and passives, including unwanted results.
- Only increase batch size once that small experiment works.

Troubleshoot before baking more
A stalled farm is a process problem before it is a reason to breed different parents. Check the visible farm status and change the simplest cause first.

Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator guarantee five eggs or a specific passive?
No. It budgets ingredients for regular Cake only. Farm conditions, cake variants, offspring rules and random inheritance are separate.
Should I use the same recipe for every Cake variant?
No. The current community reference lists several cake variants. This tool is explicitly limited to regular Cake.
