First identify which kind of expedition save you have
The 7.13 note is narrowly scoped: it refers to a community expedition game started from a primary save, and only when the season has expired. Omega introduced a way to start an expedition from an existing save and pause it to return to that slot's primary save; older standalone expedition saves are not the same workflow.
Do not infer your route from the words 'expedition save' alone. Check whether you launched the expedition from an existing save's terminal/menu, or began it as a separate save. Then check the expedition's current season state and the actual installed platform build.
| What you see | What the official 7.13 note covers | Safe next check |
|---|---|---|
| Community expedition started from an existing primary save; season expired | Return to Primary Save now finalises the expedition on 7.13 | Confirm your platform has 7.13 and whether you want to end this expedition |
| Primary-save expedition; season still active | The expired-season clause does not describe this state | Use the in-game pause/terminal options and read the current prompt |
| Expedition began as a separate/new save | The 7.13 note's primary-save wording does not establish this route | Read the save/expedition menu prompt; do not assume a primary save will be merged |
| Platform is not Steam or build is uncertain | 7.13 was announced for Steam first; other platforms were still pending in that post | Check the official release log and installed version before relying on the change |

Make the decision before pressing the return option
The patch note uses 'finalise the expedition' for the expired-season case. Treat that as an end-of-expedition transition, not as a casual pause/resume shortcut. The publisher's announcement does not promise an undo button or describe recovery after finalising, so keep the choice deliberate and do not test it on a save whose state you cannot afford to change.
- Record the platform and installed game version from the title/menu screen; compare it with Hello Games' release log.
- Confirm whether this expedition was launched from an existing primary save and whether the season has expired.
- If you want to keep playing the expedition, leave the Return to Primary Save button alone and use only a clearly labelled continue/pause option shown by the current game UI.
- If you are ready to finish, read the full confirmation screen before accepting. Do not assume this guide can restore an expedition or recover a save.
- After returning, verify the primary save and expedition progress in-game before deleting or replacing any local backup.

Platform rollout matters: 7.13 is not a universal version label
Hello Games' November 2 post says 7.13 is live on Steam and will come to other platforms as soon as possible. Its October 30 7.12 post lists PS5 and an Anomaly teleporter crash fix, not the 7.13 expedition-finalisation change. That does not prove no later platform update contains the change; it means you must check the current release log for your platform instead of copying a PC report.
| Evidence checked | Official announcement says | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Forsaken 7.13 | Steam live; other platforms to follow; expired community expedition from primary save is finalised on Return to Primary Save | Use this exact behavior only when your installed platform build includes the change |
| Forsaken 7.12 | PS5 live; specific Anomaly teleporter crash fix | Do not attribute the 7.13 expedition change to 7.12 based on this post |
| Another or newer platform release | Release log may list a later build | Read that platform's own notes; this dated guide may need revision |

What this guide does not claim
Omega explains that expedition rewards, units, nanites, discoveries, bases, technology and items have distinct return rules. Those rules are not a guarantee that every temporary expedition object transfers or that every season's rewards are identical. Check the terminal and the current expedition's own reward list. This is an editorial reading of published notes—not a hands-on save test or a substitute for the in-game confirmation.

Before you play
- I know whether this expedition was started from an existing primary save or as a separate save.
- I checked whether the season is actually expired.
- I checked the installed platform build against the publisher's release log.
- I understand that 7.13 describes the expired-season return action as finalising the expedition.
