Choose a session model that fits your group
Inflexion documents two current hosting routes: a listen server running in the host's game client, or a dedicated server that can persist while that player is offline. The official friend-play guide says an existing character can visit a friend's Realm and carry progress back to the player's own world with Play Solo. That is different from promising that every Estate or inventory is merged.
| Need | Choose | Trade-off to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| A quick session while the host is playing | Listen server / Host a Game | The world is unavailable after the host logs off |
| Friends may continue while the host is offline | Dedicated server | Hosting must be arranged/managed or rented |
| Use an existing character on a friend's Realm | Select/download the intended character, then join the host | Publisher describes carrying progress home with Play Solo; verify the live menu |
| Just inspect whether access works | Low-risk short visit first | Do not bring rare materials until the session and return route are confirmed |

Co-op preflight
- Agree on the hosting model: listen server for a world that exists while the host is playing, or dedicated server for a persistent group world.
- Choose/create the character using the current start menu; Inflexion's October 2025 instructions say existing characters can visit a friend's Realm and progress can return home through Play Solo.
- The host shares the current join route (Steam or IP/LAN, where offered) and the intended destination/objective before anyone joins.
- Run a short, low-value visit first and verify the actual return-to-own-world flow in your build before hauling valuable stock.
- If the historical instruction and current UI differ, check the latest Inflexion dedicated-server/friend-play update; don't infer base ownership or automatic inventory merging from character visit support.

Controls and hosting limits
The cited friend-play instructions are dated October 4, 2025 and describe menu names at that time. Steam currently lists PC single-player, online and LAN co-op; hosting provider behavior and live menu wording can change. This page cannot inspect your character, server, account or progress.

Before you play
- The host and destination are explicit.
- The group agreed one objective and a return trigger.
- A low-value access test comes before transporting rare supplies.
- Current invite and server instructions were checked if the UI changed.
Frequently asked questions
Can this page confirm my friend can join?
No. It is a local checklist and cannot inspect accounts, network status, invites or server permissions.
Does visiting a friend move my Estate?
The cited publisher pages do not establish that. Do not infer transfer or shared ownership from the fact that co-op visits are supported.
