Check the platform pool before the lobby
A failed invite across PC and console may be an unsupported platform pairing rather than a NAT or router failure. Confirm the exact game (World), device family and store/client before changing network settings.
- Ask each player whether they are on PC, PS4 or Xbox One; record the actual platform, not just controller type.
- Confirm all players launched Monster Hunter: World, not Rise, Wilds or a different edition.
- If the group crosses PC/PS4/Xbox One, stop treating the lobby issue as a local network fault; Capcom says those versions do not cross-play.
- If the platform matches, then compare region/session settings and use the platform's current network support steps.
- Share only non-sensitive error text in community discussion; never post platform account IDs.

Cross-region is not cross-platform
| Feature | World support statement | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-play | No cross-play across PC, PS4 and Xbox One | A PC hunter cannot join a PS4/Xbox lobby |
| Cross-region multiplayer | Each version has global cross-region servers | Players on different platforms can join |
| Cross-progression | Saves are unique to platform and cannot transfer | A hunter save moves between PC and console |
| Different series entry | This source is specifically World | Rise or Wilds uses identical platform rules |

If the platform matches but the group still cannot join
Once the platform pair is compatible, use the in-game session and current Capcom network troubleshooting route. Record the exact error, platform service status and whether one host or every host fails. Community threads can help compare symptoms, but an old post may describe a different patch or online-service state.
- Check that all clients are updated to the same current World version for their platform.
- Have the host create a session and share the exact in-game session details through a private channel.
- Test one player at a time joining the host so you can identify whether the issue follows one client or the session.
- Use Capcom/platform support if the compatible-platform test still fails; retain exact error and timestamp.

Before you play
- I recorded each player's actual platform and exact game entry.
- I separated cross-region from cross-play.
- I did not expect a save to transfer between PC and console.
- I verified platform compatibility before changing router settings.
- I treated community posts as reports, not Capcom policy.
