Treat the cloud slot as a replaceable copy
The official instructions describe uploading one hero into a chosen cloud slot and downloading that hero on another platform. This is not automatic sync: subsequent changes must be uploaded again, and a reverse transfer can overwrite a different copy if the slot is reused.
| Action | Safe check | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Upload from original device | Select the intended hero and an empty cloud slot | Selecting an occupied slot overwrites that cloud hero |
| Download on second device | Sign into the same Microsoft account and choose an empty local hero slot | Do not overwrite a local hero you still need |
| Continue progress on destination | Upload updated hero when you want to carry those changes back | Old cloud copy remains stale until uploaded |
| Multiple heroes | Track each name and slot before transfer | Slot confusion can replace the wrong character |

Make a one-hero transfer plan
Cloud upload is a user-directed operation. Label the source, destination and target slot before pressing confirm; the browser tool below only records your plan and cannot see existing heroes.
- On the source platform, open Hero Settings and put the intended hero on screen.
- Write down the hero name/level and choose an empty cloud slot; stop if you cannot confirm the slot is empty.
- Use Upload Hero and confirm only after checking the slot warning.
- On the destination platform, sign in to the same Microsoft account and open Hero Settings.
- Choose an empty local slot before selecting Download Hero.
- After playing, upload the changed hero again if you need those changes on the original platform.
- Keep account-link and multiplayer settings separate; neither substitutes for this manual upload/download.
