Follow the in-game link flow on the device
The official account article specifically describes Switch and PlayStation activation. The browser code is an account-link credential for that login flow; enter it only on the official Microsoft link page that the game directs you to.
| Checkpoint | Expected state | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft account | Signed into the account you intend to use | Do not create/link a second account without confirming ownership |
| Settings > Game | Configure Cross-Platform Play is available | Menu labels can change with updates |
| Browser code | Entered on the official Microsoft link page | Never share the temporary code or password |
| Online access | Platform subscription/network requirement satisfied if applicable | Account link alone does not bypass console online rules |

Resolve invite mismatch safely
Linking enables cross-platform play; it does not automatically upload a local hero. Keep the multiplayer setup separate from cloud hero transfer, which has its own overwrite-prone slot flow.
- Record each player's platform and whether cross-platform play is activated.
- On Switch/PlayStation, complete the official Microsoft account flow in Settings > Game.
- Wait for the in-game account status to refresh; restart only if the current support page recommends it.
- Add/invite friends through the supported in-game friend route and check platform privacy settings.
- If it still fails, record exact platform, game build and error text before using Minecraft Help or community discussions.
- Do not send account passwords, recovery codes or link codes to a friend or public forum.
