Decide which character should be primary
NetEase describes one character per account before linking and a primary-character choice when linking accounts that already have separate characters. Progress, rank, collections and paid content belong to characters. Selecting a primary is not a merge operation.
| Situation | Source-based interpretation | Safer next step |
|---|---|---|
| Only one account has progress | That character is the intended primary candidate | Confirm its platform login and account ownership before linking. |
| Two accounts each have a character | Choose one primary; the other is retained, not merged | Record which character has the collection/progress you want to use. |
| Unsure which console account is signed in | A cached platform login can bind the wrong account | Sign out of unrelated PlayStation web sessions and verify the intended account first. |
| Thinking of unlinking to test | Unlinking can create a 180-day platform cooldown | Stop; use the official account support path instead of trial-and-error. |

Use the documented linking path deliberately
The FAQ gives the path Settings → Other → Account → Account Binding, then selecting another platform and completing verification. The exact menu label can change with updates. Platform authorization may silently select a currently signed-in PlayStation account, so confirm the identity shown before accepting.
- Update the game and open the official account-binding screen on the intended profile.
- List the platforms and characters that already hold progress; do not assume their records will merge.
- Choose the intended primary character only after reviewing the confirmation prompt.
- Wait for linking to complete; do not repeatedly click or unlink while the operation is pending.
- If the wrong account was linked, stop and read the current cooldown/restore instructions before taking another action.
Cooldowns and limits to understand first
NetEase's FAQ states a 180-day platform cooldown after unlinking and a 30-minute character cooldown after selecting a different primary. It also says one PSN account cannot be freely swapped for a different PSN account after binding, though relinking the original is allowed. These are source-dated rules, not a promise that an account-specific support decision will be identical.
| Action | Published limit | Do not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Unlink a platform | 180-day platform cooldown before rebinding that platform | That support can instantly bypass the cooldown. |
| Switch primary character | Other characters have a 30-minute cooldown | Characters or paid content are permanently merged. |
| Bind PlayStation | The FAQ restricts changing to a different PSN account | Any logged-in PSN session is the correct one. |
| Use linked accounts on another platform | Shared character/progress is supported per FAQ | Rank and leaderboard are shared across devices. |

Ask the community without exposing account data
Community posts can help identify whether other players see the same menu or platform behavior, but they cannot verify your account or override the publisher's cooldown.
- Include platform, game version, the screen's exact wording and whether each account already had a character.
- Hide email addresses, account identifiers, QR codes and purchase details.
- Use NetEase support for account-specific recovery; treat Reddit/Steam replies as unverified.
Before you play
- I identified the progress-owning character before linking.
- I understand characters are not merged.
- I read the confirmation and cooldown warning before unlinking or switching primary.
Frequently asked questions
Does linking merge two characters?
No. NetEase says choose a primary; unselected characters are retained and data between characters is not merged.
Are ranks shared between PC and console?
The FAQ says rank and leaderboard remain separate per device/platform.
