The useful distinction is world versus region
Lost Ark's official guide splits activity scope: guilds, friends, mail/exchange and Strongholds require the same world; many raids, daily PvE activities, Auction House and arena features operate within the same region. It is not accurate to reduce all party play to 'same server' or 'anywhere'.
The same support article warns that claiming a Starter Pack binds it to that server, while currencies, mounts and pets have world-bound restrictions and some redeemed items are character-bound. Treat a pack claim as a decision, not a test.
| Goal | Minimum official scope to check | Before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Join the same guild / share friends list | Same world | Agree on the exact current world name |
| Run region-wide raid / daily PvE | Same region; worlds may differ | Check the current activity list |
| Claim Starter Pack | Claimed server binding | Verify world and character first |
| Play after region merge | Current server list + account roster | Don't rely on old community maps |

A low-risk group setup sequence
- Have each player name the exact region and world shown in the current character/region screen.
- Write down the shared activity you care about: guild, open-world event, mail/exchange, raid, or matchmaking.
- Use the official world-versus-region table for that activity; if a same-world feature matters, select the same currently available world before creating characters.
- Check the live server-status page and current migration notices; the western service is in a publisher transition period.
- Do not claim a Starter Pack or redeem character-bound items until the target character and world are confirmed.

Example: raid together, but keep separate guilds
Two friends in the same region but different worlds may be able to join region-wide raids while remaining unable to share same-world guild/social functions. If the purpose is only a raid group, compare the region; if they want a guild and shared local social features, align on a world before investing in that roster.
The Steam discussion linked below contains older player confusion around region/server transfers. It is useful as a question example only; its answers predate current merges and must not be treated as current policy.
| Situation | Likely next move | Source caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Different world, same region, raid goal | Check the current raid/matchmaking list | Exact activity scope can change |
| Different world, guild goal | Choose/transfer only using current official options | Don't assume same-region is enough |
| Returning after long absence | Check current region list and official support | Old posts may describe merged servers |

Discussion and limits
The linked Steam post is user-generated, historical context—not official instructions. For a current account/server issue, use Lost Ark Support and the server-status page. Never post account credentials or recovery codes.
GamerWin's local planner only compares the goal and world/region choices you enter. It cannot inspect a roster, determine account eligibility, or transfer characters.

Before you play
- I identified the shared activity, not just 'play together'.
- I compared same-world and same-region requirements in current official support.
- I checked the live server list before creating or claiming anything.
- I treated old transfer discussions as stale user reports.
Frequently asked questions
Do friends always need the same Lost Ark world?
No. The official guide lists some social/world functions as same-world and many activities as region-wide. Check the exact activity.
Can a Starter Pack be moved later?
The support article warns that a claimed Starter Pack binds to that server; verify before claiming.
Are Steam server-transfer discussions current?
Not necessarily. The linked thread is user-generated and predates later merges; use the live official status/support pages.
