What the developer changed
RocketWerkz's Week 252 notes identify two separate changes: the repeatable watering behavior was fixed, and base XP values for watering and fertilizing crops were increased from 100 to 150. The fix is not a change to crop watering functionality; the announcement says a crop must require the action.
| Action/state | Guide treatment | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Water a crop that needs water | Count one valid action at 150 base XP | Week 252 raised the base value |
| Fertilize a crop when eligible | Count one valid action at 150 base XP | Week 252 raised the base value |
| Water an already-watered crop again | Do not count repeat XP or water cost | The repeatable XP behavior was fixed |

Calculate a base estimate, not a character's complete gain
The calculator multiplies reader-entered valid watering and fertilizing actions by 150. It is intentionally not a level-up forecast: it does not know character bonuses, active talents, event modifiers, patch differences, crop eligibility or the game's rounding and display behavior.
- Enter only actions you believe the crop state permits; do not count repeated watering on an already-watered plot.
- Compare the base subtotal with the game display, treating any difference as a prompt to check build, modifier and eligibility.
- Use a small controlled comparison in your own build if investigating an unexpected value; change one action type at a time.

Troubleshoot an action that gives no expected XP
A zero or different result may mean the plant did not need that care action, the crop type/state differs, or a modifier/version changes the displayed gain. Repeating the same action on a saturated plant is not a valid workaround according to the developer's fix note.
- Inspect whether the crop is currently in a state requiring water or fertilizer.
- Check the platform and exact game build, then compare with Week 252 or a later official patch note.
- Record one eligible watering and one eligible fertilizing observation separately; do not extrapolate an XP multiplier from a single run.

Find the relevant item or unlock in the Field Guide
Week 252 added keyboard access to the Field Guide with J or F1 and an 'Open in Field Guide' action from right-clicking an item. Week 256 added a Field Guide button that jumps to a relevant Tech Tree unlock when one applies, plus improved Tech Tree search focus. These are navigation aids, not proof of crop XP mechanics beyond the cited balance notes.
- Open the Field Guide with J/F1 or right-click an item and choose Open in Field Guide.
- Use categories/search to locate crop-care items; in builds with the Week 256 improvements, follow the show-in-tech-tree button where available.
- If your interface differs, record the build and platform because the cited shortcut documentation is keyboard-oriented.

Before you play
- Use 150 base XP per eligible watering or fertilizing action after the cited update.
- Do not count repeat watering of an already-watered crop.
- Treat the planner as base arithmetic, not an XP multiplier simulator.
- Verify exact platform/build and crop eligibility in game.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep watering one plot for XP?
No. The Week 252 fix prevents repeat watering an already-watered crop from granting XP or consuming water.
Does the tool show my actual XP gain?
No. It multiplies valid actions by 150 base XP and excludes talents, bonuses, level effects and eligibility.
Does this cover every platform/version?
It is bounded to the cited official Week 252 notes. Check later official notes and your own platform build.
