Separate the main save from the backup
The publisher's recovery steps are specific to PC and depend on its current folder layout. A backup can be older than the latest session, so compare timestamps and profile identity before replacing anything.
| Finding | Interpretation | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Backup exists and is older | It may not include latest progress | Copy current and backup files to a separate folder; inspect both through support steps |
| No backup visible | The session may not have exceeded 60 minutes or path may be redirected | Check the active AppData path and publisher support |
| Two profiles/folders | Could be old Documents and new AppData after migration | Use the migration guide first; don't merge blindly |
| Console save missing | PC recovery article is out of scope | Use platform cloud recovery and Frozen District support |

Preserve the recoverable state
Recovery changes are hard to undo if the newer file is overwritten. Keep an untouched copy outside the game directory and use the support procedure matching your installed version.
- Stop launching/reinstalling repeatedly if new sessions might alter the folder.
- Record platform, storefront, profile slot and last session when the progress was visible.
- Copy the complete current House Flipper 2 profile directory to a safe location.
- Inspect the publisher's PC recovery article for the exact backup filename and path.
- Restore only a copy of the backup into a test location first if the article permits; keep the current files untouched.
- Launch only after confirming which file will be read; verify a known house/profile, then make a fresh backup.
- If paths differ or you cannot identify the main profile, submit a support ticket instead of deleting folders.
