First route by the exact source and destination
Rockstar documents a console migration from PS4 or Xbox One to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, plus a separate PC-only path from GTAV Legacy to GTAV Enhanced. These instructions should not be blended into one cross-platform promise. Some profiles may be ineligible; the local check cannot assess Rockstar's account decision.
| Source → destination | Documented scope | Critical consequence |
|---|---|---|
| PS4 or Xbox One → PS5 or Xbox Series X|S | Rockstar describes migration through the Landing Page or Pause Menu | Generational progress stops syncing after migration; purchased GTA$ have platform-family exceptions |
| GTAV Legacy PC → GTAV Enhanced PC | Rockstar describes migration via Enhanced Landing Page or Pause Menu | Progress does not sync between Legacy and Enhanced after migration; migration can take time |
| PC ↔ console | Rockstar says this migration is not supported | Do not proceed expecting profile transfer |
| Other direction or unclear edition | Not established by these cited instructions | Stop and verify the exact official support route before confirming |

Account for GTA$ separately from character progress
Rockstar distinguishes purchased GTA$ from earned GTA$. Its console migration page warns that unspent purchased GTA$ do not transfer across platform families, while the currency article lists same-family transfer cases and a PC Legacy/Enhanced note. Do not use a balance you cannot see in your current account as a presumed eligible amount.
- Record whether the balance you care about is earned in-game or purchased through Shark Cards, memberships or another promotion.
- For PS4/Xbox One to next-generation consoles, check whether source and destination are the same platform family; Rockstar's example says unspent purchased GTA$ do not transfer across PS4→Xbox Series or Xbox One→PS5.
- For PC Legacy-to-Enhanced, read Rockstar's current currency exception page before migrating; PC purchased GTA$ rules differ by purchase date and edition.
- Capture non-sensitive notes for yourself, but do not share receipts, account email or transaction identifiers in a public discussion.
- If the balance classification is unclear, stop before confirmation and ask Rockstar Support rather than relying on the calculator.

Protect the character slot at the review screen
Both migration instructions describe a Review Character screen. Rockstar warns that continuing with a new character overwrites the existing character slot; the PC page also says a first Career Builder choice may appear if you have not previously created a new character that way. Read the screen and selected character before accepting it.
- Take a private note of which character and source profile you intend to keep; the tool does not read your roster.
- Read the confirmation and Review Character text in the game itself. Do not treat the tool's reminder as a substitute for the final screen.
- Choose the existing migrated character only if it is the intended profile. Choosing a new character can overwrite the slot identified in Rockstar's instructions.
- Wait for the in-game completion alert. Rockstar says some migrations may take longer; do not repeatedly restart the process based only on elapsed time.
- After migration, assume progress can diverge between source and destination; changes are not synced across the two profiles under the cited instructions.

Use the migration preflight and stop on uncertainty
Select the migration route and risk flags that apply to your own case. A result of documented path is not a finding that your profile is eligible; Rockstar may reject suspended/banned profiles or profiles with illegitimate or insufficient progress. The checker does not contact Rockstar or change data.
- Choose the source and destination shown by your installed game editions, not the hardware you plan to buy later.
- Record the purchased-GTA$ exception, post-migration sync split and character-slot overwrite risk.
- If the route is unsupported or unclear, do not confirm the transfer; review Rockstar's article for that exact platform and edition.
- Keep access to the original platform until the destination profile is confirmed. Do not interpret the retained source profile as ongoing synchronization.
- For account-specific eligibility or a stuck migration, use Rockstar Support. Community reports can suggest questions but cannot verify your profile.

Frequently asked questions
Can I move a GTA Online profile from PC to PS5?
Rockstar says migration between PC and console is not supported.
Will progress stay synchronized on both generations?
No. Rockstar says progress made on the different console generations will not sync after migration; its PC migration page gives the same no-sync warning for Legacy and Enhanced.
Will all my GTA$ transfer?
Not necessarily. Rockstar distinguishes earned and purchased GTA$, with platform-family and PC-version exceptions. Read its current currency support page for your exact route.
Can I choose a new character after migration?
Rockstar warns that choosing to continue with a new character can overwrite the existing character slot. Read the game's review screen carefully.
Can this tool confirm my profile is eligible?
No. Eligibility is determined by Rockstar and may depend on account status or progress not available to this site.
