Local tool: party platform preflight

Select each player's platform. It applies Rockstar's PC boundary only; console compatibility is deliberately not guessed.

Within Rockstar's documented PC cross-network scope. This is not a live invite or session test.

Browser-only: choices stay in this tab and reset on reload. No account, lobby, launcher, network or game version is inspected.

Rockstar's PC cross-network and Xbox app steps

The useful rule is PC boundary, not universal crossplay

Rockstar lists PC storefronts/launchers such as Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, Epic Games Launcher and Xbox app on PC as the scope for cross-network play. It also explicitly says PC players cannot play with console players. That establishes a PC-versus-console boundary, but it is not a complete matrix for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S combinations.

If Xbox app on PC cannot enter Online

Rockstar's support article names Xbox privacy and online-safety settings that can prevent access. This is a platform-account setting check, not a general fix for every connection error.

  1. In the Xbox app on PC, open Profile & settings, then Settings.
  2. Under Account, open Privacy Settings and choose Manage.
  3. Open Xbox and Windows 10 devices Online Safety.
  4. Check You can join multiplayer games and You can join cross-network play; Rockstar's steps say to allow the settings and submit the change.
  5. Reopen GTA Online and record the exact message if access still fails. Do not weaken unrelated privacy controls or share your account details in a public thread.

Use the preflight as a boundary check only

The tool compares the platform categories you select; it cannot check storefront entitlements, edition/build compatibility, parental-control state, NAT, regional availability, current server status, account restrictions or whether an invite is still valid. A green result means only that the pair fits Rockstar's documented PC-to-PC scope—not that a session has been tested.

  1. Select the platform family for every player who needs to join.
  2. Read whether the result is documented PC cross-network, explicitly incompatible PC-to-console, or not settled by this source.
  3. For pairs marked unconfirmed, verify current official platform support before buying another edition or migrating a profile.
  4. Compare the players' exact game edition, update state and invite path, then try one invite and capture any exact error.
  5. If you ask the community, state PC launcher or console generation and date. Treat replies as anecdotal, not a confirmed compatibility guarantee.

Limits and terminology

This page covers GTA Online party compatibility only. It does not explain story-mode multiplayer, account migration, PC Legacy/Enhanced parity or console cross-generation features. Rockstar's support wording is the authority for its stated PC scope; unknown pairings stay unknown until a platform-specific official source resolves them.
