List the gates before retrying the door
Obsidian's Fully Yoked release notes name the Broodmother, Mantis, Wasp Queen and Javamatic fight as prerequisites. This is a conjunctive checklist, not a suggestion to beat any four bosses. A later patch singled out the Mini Mantis because it had incorrectly counted for the REMIX.R door. That makes the exact boss identity important when reconstructing an old save.
The REMIX.R starts a remixed yard with stronger infused creatures and new progression. Existing bases, items and recipe unlocks carry into New Game+ according to the 1.4 notes. Before activating the transition, check your own save backup and whether you actually want the difficulty change; the article does not claim a reversible one-click trial.
- Confirm you are playing original Grounded with Fully Yoked content, not Grounded 2 or a custom Playground.
- On the save that shows the locked REMIX.R room, verify the Broodmother defeat, then the actual Mantis—not merely a Mini Mantis encounter.
- Verify Wasp Queen defeat and completion of the Javamatic fight. Record which proof is present in this save's story or quest records.
- If one gate is missing, complete that specific fight before returning to the REMIX.R. Avoid changing multiple save or mode variables at once.
- Before entering, save or back up in the method available on your platform and confirm that carrying the existing world into a tougher remixed yard is intentional.

Use a four-row audit rather than a vague 'finished story' claim
A player may have completed most of the story yet skipped an optional boss, or may remember a kill from a different save. The official text is precise about the four gates. Treat a missing record as a specific task to verify, not as proof of a broken door.
The 1.4.7 fix changes a historical edge case: if your memory is of beating a small Mantis-type enemy, check that the actual Mantis was defeated on the active save. Do not rely on a previous version's accidental unlock behavior as a current strategy.
| Gate | What counts | Common false assumption |
|---|---|---|
| Broodmother | The required boss defeat | Any spider encounter counts |
| Mantis | The Mantis boss defeat | Mini Mantis counts after 1.4.7 |
| Wasp Queen | The required boss defeat | Ordinary wasp fights count |
| Javamatic | The fight completed | Reaching the site is enough |

Worked example: the wrong Mantis
Illustrative save audit, not a recorded playthrough: a player remembers three bosses and a Javamatic clear, but the REMIX.R door remains locked. Their Mantis memory is a Mini Mantis from a later encounter. Obsidian's 1.4.7 notes say that Mini Mantis no longer fulfills the door requirement. The next useful test is to verify the actual Mantis clear on the loaded save, not to restart the game or repeatedly interact with the door.
If all four gates are demonstrably complete on the same save and the door still fails, collect the installed version, platform and save details for a bug report. This guide does not assert that every remaining failure has a known cause.

Decide whether to enter after the door opens
New Game+ is a meaningful progression change: the official 1.4 notes describe infused enemies, randomized molar locations and new ASL options. It also retains your existing bases and item unlocks. A player seeking only one boss reward may prefer to finish other errands first.
Record the four gate states, platform, save type and installed build. That makes a locked-door report actionable and avoids confusing this issue with a lost pet, which has a separate Game Repair route.

Frequently asked questions
Does killing a Mini Mantis open REMIX.R?
No. Obsidian's 1.4.7 notes say it no longer counts as the Mantis for that door.
Do I lose my base when entering New Game+?
The official 1.4 notes say bases, items and recipe unlocks carry over, but the remixed yard changes challenges. Keep an appropriate save backup before a major transition.
