Check the two most common identity boundaries first
HoYoverse's progress-reset help article directs players to check server and account. It explicitly says PlayStation's server is determined by the PSN account region, and warns that using a linked email is different from using Google, while Apple ID differs from Game Center. Do not treat matching email text as proof that two login buttons reach the same HoYoverse Account.
| What you observe | Check next | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Progress appears at a low rank or looks new | Return to the title/login screen and select the server where that progress was originally created. | HoYoverse says progress, characters, and purchases are tied to the original server and cannot be transferred or merged. |
| A PlayStation account shows a different character than PC/mobile | Check the PSN account region, then compare with the source platform's server. | HoYoverse says PlayStation's server is determined by the PSN account region. |
| The same email address seems to create a different account | Compare the actual sign-in method: email/password versus Google, Apple ID versus Game Center, or PSN. | HoYoverse treats these as distinct login routes unless they are linked to the same HoYoverse Account. |
| You are playing while traveling or living in another country | Keep separate the physical location, chosen game server, and PSN-account region. | HoYoverse says a server account can be accessed from any physical region; physical location alone does not transfer progress. |
| The account and server match but the progress is still absent | Record the non-sensitive platform, server, login method, and last-known UID privately; contact official support. | The local check cannot query an account, determine a service outage, or restore data. |

A conservative reset-progress diagnostic
Do not infer deletion from a new-looking account. HoYoverse says game data is tied to the HoYoverse account and is not removed by default; this guide does not assert that your data exists, only that server/login mismatches should be ruled out before taking irreversible steps.
- Stop before creating a new account, unlinking PSN, or spending currency on the apparently new profile.
- Write down the platform, exact login button/method, selected server, and the UID you see. Keep the UID and account identifiers private when asking for help.
- On PC/mobile, compare the selected server with the one where progress was last visible. On PlayStation, use the PSN account region as the server clue; do not assume you can change it with the login screen.
- Compare sign-in methods exactly. A standard email/password login is not necessarily the same route as Google third-party login; likewise Apple ID is not Game Center.
- If you can access the original device, open Settings > Account > User Center and verify its linked-account state before attempting any cross-save change.
- If the correct method and server still show no progress, stop changing links and contact HoYoverse Support with a concise, private account-recovery request.

Server mismatch is not a transfer problem you can solve by merging
HoYoverse's server article says it does not support server transfers or merges and that progress, characters, and purchases remain on the original server. The Genshin-specific PSN notice says progress sync requires the same server; its TW/HK/MO-to-PSN note is tied to the corresponding PlayStation server availability described in that dated notice. Do not present a different-server save as movable by support unless newer official guidance says so.
| Compared server state | Source-bounded conclusion | Safer next step |
|---|---|---|
| Same server, same HoYoverse account | Cross-save is supported on the platforms HoYoverse lists. | Recheck login method, linked identity, then official support if the mismatch persists. |
| Different selected server | Progress is not transferred or merged between servers by the documented service. | Return to the server with the original progress; do not expect a merge. |
| PlayStation server differs from PC/mobile | PSN region determines PlayStation's server; the game-specific notice requires the same server for sync. | Verify which PSN account and server you are using before relinking. |
| Unknown server or PSN region | The evidence is insufficient to claim a server match. | Check the live title screen and PSN account region; keep the status as unknown until verified. |

Community reports are comparison clues, not account support
When posting publicly, describe Genshin Impact, platform, selected server, sign-in method category, and the non-sensitive symptom. Never share a password, one-time code, email inbox, payment details, or an unredacted account screenshot. Reddit posts may show that another player saw a similar blank account, but cannot establish your region, recover progress, or make HoYoverse transfer data between servers.

Before you play
- I compared the selected server to the server where progress was last visible.
- For PlayStation, I considered the PSN account region rather than my current physical location.
- I used the same login method, not merely an account with a similar email address.
- I did not create a replacement account, unlink PSN, or spend on the blank-looking profile before checking.
- I contacted HoYoverse Support privately if account identity and server both match but progress remains missing.
Frequently asked questions
Can HoYoverse move my characters to another server?
Its October 3, 2025 help article says server transfer and server merge are unsupported; progress, characters, and purchases stay tied to the original server.
Does my physical country decide the server?
HoYoverse says you can access your fixed server account from any physical region. On PlayStation, it says the server is determined by the PSN account region.
Why does a matching email not guarantee the same account?
HoYoverse notes that email login is different from Google login and Apple ID is different from Game Center unless those identities are linked to the same account.
Can this tool check my UID or region?
No. It only compares choices you select in this browser page and cannot access HoYoverse, PSN, your client, UID, account, or server.

- HoYoverse Help Center: What should I do if my progress appears reset? (Official)
HoYoverse help article updated August 26, 2025. It recommends checking the selected server and login method; on PlayStation the server is determined by the region of the PlayStation Network account. - Genshin Impact: Notice on Cross-Save Function Between PSN and HoYoverse Account (Official)
Game-specific official cross-save notice first published July 9, 2021. It documents that progress sync requires the same server and explains platform-specific PSN cases. Because portions discuss the original Version 2.0 launch flow and later HoYoverse help articles may update linking/unlinking steps, use it for the same-server boundary and defer to newer support pages for current account operations.
