Separate the game account, sign-in method, platform link, and server
A progress mismatch can come from using a different HoYoverse Account, choosing a different sign-in method, landing on a different server, or linking the wrong PSN. HoYoverse explicitly lists PC, iOS, Android, PlayStation, and Xbox for Genshin cross-save, but that does not mean a new platform account is automatically attached to the correct progress.
| Situation | Official check | Do not do this first |
|---|---|---|
| PC/mobile progress; PSN has never opened Genshin | On first PlayStation launch, choose Login with existing account and follow the prompt for the HoYoverse Account with the existing progress. | Do not skip the prompt and assume the account can be linked later in the same way. |
| PlayStation already has the progress you want elsewhere | In Genshin on PlayStation, open Settings > Account > User Center and follow the current email/password link process; then use that HoYoverse login elsewhere. | Do not link an unrelated account or expose a verification code. |
| The same email seems to open a blank game | Confirm whether you used email/password, Google, Apple ID, Game Center, or PSN; HoYoverse treats some of these as distinct login methods. | Do not create or merge another account before identifying the original sign-in method. |
| You think the wrong PSN is linked | Check linked accounts in the official HoYoverse Account Center and review current support guidance before any change. | Do not unlink to experiment; HoYoverse says a PSN can be unlinked only once. |

Use a no-change preflight before signing in on another platform
The sequence is deliberately a preflight, not a recovery procedure. HoYoverse's 2025 help center describes current account steps, but the game-specific PSN article dates to the original Version 2.0 cross-save launch; use the older page for the server-match rule, not as authority over newer linking/unlinking instructions.
- On the device where your progress is visible, record the in-game UID privately, the platform, selected server, and the exact login method. Do not post the UID or account email publicly.
- Open Settings > Account > User Center and verify which HoYoverse Account is linked. If using PlayStation, inspect the official Account Center linked-account status before opening an account-link prompt.
- If PSN has never opened Genshin, read the on-screen first-launch prompt completely and choose Login with existing account only when you have confirmed the intended HoYoverse account.
- If PSN already has Genshin progress, do not assume it can be attached to an already-used email. Follow the current HoYoverse Support path for an account created on PlayStation and compare the displayed server before proceeding.
- On the target PC/mobile/console, use the same HoYoverse credentials or the same linked login method and select the same server as the source progress.
- If a prompt names an account you do not recognize, cancel before confirming. Use HoYoverse Support rather than repeatedly linking and unlinking accounts.

Worked example: matching email text is not enough
Use this comparison when the same-looking email seems to produce an empty account on a second device. The goal is to identify the original identity route without changing any link. HoYoverse's help article distinguishes standard email/password sign-in from third-party Google, Apple ID and Game Center routes.
- Write down the exact sign-in button and server used where the progress is visible.
- On the destination, compare the identity route and server before confirming any account prompt.
- If either is uncertain, stop and ask HoYoverse Support privately rather than unlinking or creating another account.
| Source device shows progress after | Destination currently uses | Safe comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Email and password | Continue with Google | Return to the source device and verify the linked HoYoverse identity; do not assume same email text means same login route. |
| Apple ID | Game Center | Treat them as separate sign-in buttons unless the official account center shows they are linked to the same HoYoverse Account. |
| PlayStation Network | New PSN profile | Check which PSN is linked and whether it has already launched the game before accepting a link prompt. |
| Original server A | Server B selected | Return to the original server; HoYoverse says progress cannot be transferred or merged between servers. |

When the safe next step is official support
If the active HoYoverse login or PSN link is not the one you expected, stop before unlinking or creating another account. HoYoverse Support handles account-link and persistent cross-save issues. Community threads can help compare a similar symptom, but they cannot verify your account, reverse a link, or override official support rules.

Before you play
- I identified the exact HoYoverse account and login method that currently shows my progress.
- I checked the destination platform's linked account and server before confirming a prompt.
- I confirmed whether this PSN has already launched Genshin Impact.
- I did not unlink as a test; the cited HoYoverse article says PSN unlinking is limited to once.
- I kept passwords, codes, account email, purchase details, and UID screenshots private.

- HoYoverse Help Center: Why can't I transfer my game account to another server? (Official)
HoYoverse help article updated October 3, 2025. It says server transfer and server merge are unsupported, and progress, characters, and purchases remain tied to the original server. - HoYoverse Help Center: What should I do if my progress appears reset? (Official)
HoYoverse help article updated August 26, 2025. It recommends checking the selected server and login method; on PlayStation the server is determined by the region of the PlayStation Network account. - Genshin Impact: Notice on Cross-Save Function Between PSN and HoYoverse Account (Official)
Game-specific official cross-save notice first published July 9, 2021. It documents that progress sync requires the same server and explains platform-specific PSN cases. Because portions discuss the original Version 2.0 launch flow and later HoYoverse help articles may update linking/unlinking steps, use it for the same-server boundary and defer to newer support pages for current account operations.
