Build a precise Forza Horizon 5 troubleshooting note

Record the variables that change the correct support route. Your entries stay in this page until you choose to copy the note; they are not uploaded or saved. Never enter passwords, recovery codes, payment details, or another player's personal data.

Suggested next step

Separate playing together from moving a save; record storefront, console generation, and the account used on each platform.

First identify what you are changing

Cross-play is a multiplayer compatibility feature. Cross-save is progress synchronization. Forza Support documents FH5 cross-play across the available platforms but separately says PS5 saves do not transfer from other platforms and Steam saves are separate from Xbox/Windows Store. A shared Microsoft account or successful online invite does not override those save limits.

A cautious platform-switch procedure

The local preflight is a reminder, not an account lookup. If progress appears missing, stop before deleting data, unlinking accounts or overwriting a local save.

  1. Write down the current platform, storefront (Steam, Microsoft Store/Xbox or PS5) and the profile/account used to launch FH5.
  2. Read the matching Forza save FAQ and note its explicit no-transfer boundary before buying or installing another edition.
  3. Keep the original game installation and save intact until you have confirmed the new platform's own save is expected. Do not use cloud-save deletion as a test.
  4. If you expect an exception, check the exact item (for example, a leaderboard entry) in the FAQ; do not assume that credits, Accolades, cars and career all follow the same rule.
  5. For account-linking or missing-save disputes, contact the platform/Forza support channel with the storefront and non-sensitive error context. Never post Microsoft account credentials publicly.

Why the distinction matters

A friend joining from another console confirms only that a multiplayer path is available. It does not prove the active career save is shared. Keep your diagnostic question precise: 'Can these platforms play together?' and 'Does this storefront read my save?' are answered by different support documentation.

Before you play

  • Platform and storefront written down separately.
  • Cross-play not mistaken for save transfer.
  • Original save and installation left untouched while checking.
  • Each expected stat/content type checked against the relevant platform FAQ.
  • No credentials, recovery codes or private account IDs shared in public.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my Xbox or Steam FH5 save on PS5?

Forza Support's PS5 FAQ says saves do not carry over from other platforms. Treat the PS5 career as separate.

Does Steam share FH5 progress with Xbox/Windows Store?

No. Forza's Steam Save FAQ says Steam save data is unique and cannot be transferred to Xbox/Windows Store.

If cross-play works, should my progress sync?

No such conclusion follows. Cross-play is multiplayer; the save FAQs separately document platform-specific saves.

Can this checklist inspect or restore my save?

No. It runs locally as a reminder and cannot read your account, files or cloud saves.
