First separate chapter skip from bonus eligibility
Square Enix documents two different outcomes from a Rebirth demo save. Completing the Nibelheim episode permits skipping a portion of the game, but demo levels/items do not carry over. A save can also qualify for the Kupo Charm and Survival Set. Do not delete full-game data just because a reward is missing; first use the official recognition route.
| Existing source save | Listed Rebirth reward | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, PS4 or PS5 | Leviathan Summoning Materia | The support article specifies these platform save sources. |
| REMAKE EPISODE INTERmission, PS5 | Ramuh Summoning Materia | The support article specifies a PS5 INTERmission save. |
| REBIRTH demo, Nibelheim episode | Kupo Charm and Survival Set | Chapter completion permits a story skip; levels/items are not carried over. |
| Steam PC Rebirth | Relevant local Remake/INTERmission save and same account per Steam listing | Same-PC/account conditions are separate from console save recognition. |

Use the documented recovery sequence
For a demo save that is not recognized on the title screen, Square Enix says to download the latest patch and retry from the Bonuses option. After that, the bonus items are claimed from the in-game System > DLC/BONUS menu. This is a recognition/claim sequence, not a save-file repair procedure.
- Record platform/storefront and whether the source is the Rebirth Nibelheim demo, Remake, or INTERmission; these sources unlock different items.
- Install the latest Rebirth patch through the same platform/storefront, then fully close and reopen the game.
- At the title screen open Bonuses and retry the save-data check. Do not infer that selecting New Game is required; the official article explicitly offers Bonuses as the manual retry path.
- If recognized, load into the game and open System > DLC/BONUS to claim the listed reward.
- If recognition still fails, verify the eligible source save is accessible on the same console/account or, on Steam, on the same PC and same account. Then use Square Enix Support; do not delete the full-game save as a first step.
- If the goal is to continue demo chapter progress rather than claim bonus items, consult the platform-specific transfer prompt/support flow separately. Reward checking does not itself transfer chapter progress.
Keep the PC and console paths distinct
The Steam listing says the relevant Remake/INTERmission save data must be present on the same PC and the same account used for Rebirth. Square Enix's support reward article lists PS4/PS5 save eligibility for console. The requirements page is for Windows PC and does not establish console graphics or save locations.
| If you play on… | Check | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Correct PS4/PS5 Remake or PS5 INTERmission source save, plus Rebirth patch | A PS4 INTERmission save is not listed as Ramuh eligibility. |
| Steam PC | Same PC has relevant save; launch both games with the same account | Console save transfer is not implied by Steam cloud or this guide. |
| Epic PC | Check Square Enix's current storefront/account instructions for the exact source saves | Steam-specific same-account wording should not be treated as Epic's complete save policy. |
| Any platform: Nibelheim demo | Demo save recognized; claim items in System > DLC/BONUS | Levels/items from the demo are not carried over. |

When this article cannot resolve it
The public support article does not list every save path, region, ownership edge case or cloud-sync conflict. If the eligible save is present but the latest-patch Bonuses check still misses it, provide Square Enix Support the platform, game build, source-game version, account/storefront context and exact menu result. Do not post account email, purchase receipts or save files to public discussions.

Frequently asked questions
Do demo levels and items carry into Rebirth?
No. Square Enix says levels/items do not carry over; completing the Nibelheim demo episode lets you skip a portion of the game.
Where do I retry a missing demo save?
Install the latest patch, then retry from Bonuses on the title screen. Recognized rewards are claimed through System > DLC/BONUS.
Does any FFVII save unlock the same reward?
No. Remake PS4/PS5 lists Leviathan, INTERmission PS5 lists Ramuh, and the Rebirth Nibelheim demo lists Kupo Charm plus Survival Set.
