FS25 Field Will Not Plant? Check Crop, Tool and Field State

Find the first unmet gate

A tractor moving across a field does not prove that seed is being placed. Start with the field information panel: ownership, current crop and plowing status determine whether the next operation makes sense. The publisher's field introduction explains that land not owned by the player normally cannot be worked outside a contract.

Next compare the crop with the implement's supported-crop icons. GIANTS lists a seeder for wheat and a planter for soybeans. A grain header used later for harvesting does not make these sowing tools interchangeable. Read the current shop listing and the tool's in-game icons before spending money on a different machine.

1. Open the field information and confirm ownership or an active contract for this exact field.
2. Select wheat or soybeans on the attached implement; verify that crop appears among the implement's supported icons.
3. Check seed fill and the tool's required tractor power or attachments. Attach, unfold and lower the implement as indicated by its controls.
4. Read field preparation separately: cultivate or plow as appropriate for your plan, unless the implement supports direct seeding. Treat a 'needs plowing' indicator as a field/yield warning, not proof that it alone caused a no-sow failure.
5. With seasonal growth enabled, check this save's crop calendar. Plant a short strip and inspect whether its field state changed before covering the full area.

Do not confuse a missing yield bonus with a blocked planting action

Lime, rolling, plowing and fertilizing can affect yield or the normal field workflow, but a field-status warning is not automatically the cause of a tool doing nothing. If the tool will not plant at all, first resolve ownership, crop-tool compatibility, seed supply, machine operation and seasonal timing. Do not buy fertilizer as a substitute for a soybean planter.

The publisher's Academy pages contain small editorial inconsistencies, including a canola reference in the soybean equipment list. This guide uses the explicit soybean planting steps and asks you to confirm the tool UI in the installed build when a page and the game disagree.

Worked example: avoid buying the wrong fix

Illustrative diagnosis, not a recorded save: the farm owns a wheat seeder and the player switches its crop menu expecting soybeans. No soybean icon appears. Repeatedly cultivating the field will not add that crop to the tool. The useful next move is to compare planters in the shop by their supported-crop icons, fill a suitable one with seeds, and test a single strip within the permitted season.

If the field also says plowing required, record it as a separate preparation or yield question. Do not assume that warning explains why this particular planter made no sown strip. Keep tool operation and field treatment diagnoses separate.

Verify a result in your own save

After one pass, read the field information again. A visible changed strip and updated crop state are stronger evidence than the tractor animation. If the status remains unchanged, note the exact implement model, crop icon, seed level, calendar state, ownership and field status before trying another fix.
