Separate calendar, crop state and machine
The crop calendar is a planning tool, not proof that a particular field is ready at this instant. With seasonal growth enabled, the publisher's wheat lesson gives a July/August harvest window, while the soybean lesson gives an October/November window. A changed planting date, map or setting can alter your expectation. Read the selected field's growth status before driving a combine through it.
Then verify the combine carries a grain header compatible with the crop. The same grain header may support both wheat and soybeans, but the exact shop item matters. A visually similar specialty header is not automatically compatible. Check the icon list on the installed header.
- Select the field and read its crop and growth state. Stop if it is still growing or has withered.
- Check that your combine and header combination explicitly supports that crop, then attach the header correctly.
- Unfold the combine or header if required, lower the header and turn on the machine using the in-game prompts.
- Check grain-tank capacity and whether the header is passing through the harvestable part of the field.
- Make one short test pass. Compare grain fill and field state before and after; unload into a suitable trailer if the tank is full.

Read the symptom before replacing equipment
A combine can be correctly configured but too early for the crop. Conversely, a ripe field can remain untouched when the wrong header is fitted or the machine has not been lowered and activated. Testing a short edge strip keeps these failures distinguishable.
The publisher's soybean page has a crop-name typo in its equipment list; rely on its explicit planting and harvesting instructions plus your installed game's supported-crop icons. Do not buy a new header solely because a generic web page says 'grain.'
| Observation | Question to answer | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Crop still growing | Is the field actually ripe? | Wait for the field's harvestable status; read this save's calendar |
| Crop ripe, no cut strip | Does the header support the crop and run? | Check crop icons, attachment, unfold/lower and activation |
| Cut strip, grain tank not rising | Where is output going? | Inspect machine fill and any active unloading path |
| Tank full | Can output be transferred? | Align an appropriate trailer and unload before continuing |

Worked example: wheat advice does not set soybean timing
Illustrative example, not a tested harvest: the player reads that wheat can be harvested in July and drives the same combine to a soybean field in July. The soybean field status still says growing. The compatible combine is not the issue; the soybean lesson's seasonal window is later. The player should use this save's crop status and return when it is harvestable, then test one short pass.
If the field is ripe in October but the machine still leaves no cut strip, the timing hypothesis is now falsified. Check header icons and machine activation next, rather than waiting another month.

Keep evidence for a specific failure
Capture crop name, growth state, calendar setting, combine and header models, supported icons, tank fill and the result of one short pass. These observations can separate a control mistake from a mod conflict or an unsupported tool.
This guide does not claim a specific sale price or yield; neither is needed to answer why the harvester collected nothing. If planting never occurred, return to the separate seeder/planter diagnostic.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my combine drive over soybeans without collecting them?
First check whether this field is ripe. Then inspect header compatibility, machine controls and grain-tank capacity; make a short test pass.
Can wheat and soybeans share a header?
GIANTS describes a compatible grain header for each, but verify the specific installed header's supported-crop icons before assuming it covers both.
