Know which save is authoritative
A career save and a multiplayer server are not interchangeable. Before moving vehicles, selling stock or transferring farm funds, the host should identify the loaded save, whether account separation is enabled, and how the server persists progress.
| Session type | Record first | Risk to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Host creates a multiplayer session from a career save | Selected career slot and host confirmation | Loading or overwriting another slot by mistake |
| Dedicated server | Server save/world name and restart/backup procedure | Assuming the local career save is the authoritative copy |
| Separate accounts enabled | Player roles and host-only actions | Guests selling vehicles or moving shared stock without agreement |
| Guest joins friend's farm | Whether the guest is editing the host's farm or their own career | Assuming one player’s solo progression is copied automatically |

Use a low-risk progress handoff
Treat the host's save as shared data. Agree what can be sold or moved, use the in-game backup/server controls where available, and confirm the target save after the session rather than relying on memory.
- Ask the host to state the world/map, save slot and server type before anyone joins.
- Record current in-game date, bank balance and one or two shared asset counts as a comparison point.
- Agree whether account separation is on and which host permissions guests may use.
- After a test change, let the host save using the current in-game control and verify it persists after a normal exit/reload.
- For a rented server, use its documented backup/export process; do not copy a local PC path onto console.
- If the save appears missing, stop writing new data and use the platform's current support/recovery steps.

Frequently asked questions
Does joining a friend's farm copy my career?
Do not assume that. Confirm the host's loaded save and server behavior in the current manual.
Can I use a Windows save location on console?
No. File paths and server backup steps are platform-specific.
Does this guide read or back up a save?
No. It is a user-entered preflight and does not access your files.
