Compare lure area with forage before changing the whole farm
The 3.1 developer notes changed how the Animal Lure constrains behavior: most movement stays inside its area, and grazing also happens there. The same notes warn that if food is not consistently available within that area, animals may fail to graze for the day. The note does not publish a universal radius measurement.
- Record whether an Animal Lure is present and active in the farm area; check the current interface instead of assuming a decorative object is active.
- Identify where the forage/feedable grass is relative to the visible lure area in your installed build.
- If forage sits outside the area, move the food source or adjust the lure/pen arrangement using the game's placement UI, then recheck animal status.
- Remember the patch note's exception: waving to interact can make an animal follow you until it leashes back to the lure. Do not treat a temporary follow as proof the boundary is gone.
- Compare the next in-game status panel after the relevant day step. One successful/failed day is an observation, not a universal rate.
- If the behavior persists, report platform, patch, lure state, animal, food placement and displayed status; do not rely on another platform's range screenshot.
| What you observe | Check first | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Animal is hungry despite nearby grass | Is that grass inside the active lure area? | Patch note gives no fixed numeric radius |
| Animal follows player out of area | Waving interaction exception and leash-back behavior | Temporary follow is not free roaming |
| No graze for the day | Consistent forage availability within the area | One day does not prove a bug |
| Console differs from PC report | Platform and installed build | Patch rollout can differ |

Keep a one-day layout note
The local worksheet captures your observations so you can change one variable at a time. It cannot read the farm, detect the lure radius or predict animal behavior.
- Record platform/build, lure active state and animal.
- List forage inside and outside the displayed area.
- Compare the next status panel after changing only one layout factor.

Before you play
- I checked forage inside the lure area, not just nearby on the farm.
- I distinguished temporary follow behavior from the lure's normal boundary.
- I recorded the platform/build before comparing a report.
Frequently asked questions
How wide is the Animal Lure area?
The cited 3.1 notes do not give a numeric radius. Use the installed game's visual/UI boundary rather than an unsupported universal number.
Can animals graze on grass outside the lure?
The developer says animals with a lure present can only graze within its area; forage outside may not feed them.
Does this worksheet verify the animal ate?
No. It only records your observations; check the in-game status panel.
