First separate crafted sets from collected drops

The Item Set Collection, commonly shown as the Stickerbook, records eligible set pieces so they can later be reconstructed. ESO Support says almost all dropped sets from questing, overland content, trials, dungeons, and more can be collected, but crafted sets are excluded. A crafted set that is not listed is therefore not automatically a collection bug; plan to keep it in inventory, bank, or a coffer if you want to retain it.

Check the binding path and vendor buyback delay

ESO Support lists equipping, deconstructing, fencing, researching, and selling to an NPC vendor as actions that bind an eligible set piece and add it to the collection. It specifically distinguishes an NPC sale from a Guild Trader sale. For an NPC vendor sale, the page warns the collection may take time to update because the item must clear the buyback period.

  1. Open Collections and the Sets/Stickerbook page; locate the exact set and item slot, not only the set name.
  2. If the item was sold to an NPC vendor recently, allow for the documented buyback period and recheck after it clears.
  3. If the item was traded through a Guild Trader, do not treat that as the official NPC-vendor collection action.
  4. If the item was not bound through an eligible action, use the live UI and official support article to decide whether you still possess a qualifying item.

Reconstruct only after confirming the exact slot

Once a piece is in the collection, ESO Support says reconstruction happens at a Transmutation Station under the Sets menu. The crystal cost decreases as more pieces from that set have been collected; adding a trait during reconstruction requires that trait to have been researched for that item type. The live station displays your available pieces and cost, so use it instead of an old universal price chart.

  1. At a Transmutation Station, choose Sets and select the set and exact missing item.
  2. Read the current Transmutation Crystal cost and confirm the displayed piece is the one you intend to reconstruct.
  3. If selecting a trait, verify the trait was researched for that exact item type; reconstruction does not bypass research requirements.
  4. Review quality-upgrade materials separately before confirmation; the source page says upgrades require the normal crafting-line materials.

Avoid a costly false fix

Collection membership does not make every existing item disposable. ESO Support warns that a high-quality piece may be costly to replace and that deconstructing returns only some of the crafting materials spent. Crafted sets are excluded altogether. First confirm that the collection holds the exact piece and weigh reconstruction costs shown in the current UI against the value of the item you already own.

Before you play

  • I checked whether the set item was crafted or an eligible dropped set.
  • I looked for the exact slot in Collections → Sets/Stickerbook.
  • I distinguished an NPC vendor sale from a Guild Trader sale and accounted for the buyback delay.
  • I read the current Transmutation Station cost before reconstructing.
  • I did not deconstruct a valuable piece based only on a general collection assumption.

Frequently asked questions

Can crafted set items go into the Stickerbook?

No. ESO Support says crafted sets cannot be stored in the Item Set Collection.

I sold a piece to a vendor. Why is it not in the collection yet?

ESO Support says an NPC-vendor item may take time to appear because it must clear the buyback period.

Does a missing Stickerbook piece mean I can reconstruct it for free?

No. The Transmutation Station displays a crystal cost; ESO Support says the cost is lower as more pieces from that set have been collected.

  1. ESO Support: Item Set Collection — System (Official)

Official support rules for what binds into the Stickerbook, the vendor buyback delay, the exclusion of crafted sets, and reconstruction at a Transmutation Station. Check the live UI for the character's current collection and cost.

  2. ESO Support: How do I research a trait? (Official)

Official support steps for Research, the Researchable marker, matching an item category and trait, and the fact that the selected item is destroyed. It says only one trait per crafting type can be researched at a time, while different crafting types can research concurrently. It does not promise a fixed duration.
