Pick the player-count setting before you queue
The game's default team mode and its optional Duo mode are separate Expedition settings. Version 1.02 added Two Player Expeditions and renamed the setting to Number of Players; Bandai Namco says encounter balance adjusts to the selected count. Solo is also documented, and the starter guide says solo can be played offline while cooperative multiplayer needs an internet connection.
| Group | Select | Connection boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Playing alone | 1 / Solo | Starter guide says solo may be online or offline |
| One friend | 2 / Duo | Added in 1.02; set player count and friend matchmaking before departure |
| Two friends | 3 / standard co-op | The launch guide describes a three-person team; this is the original default |
| Friends on different platform families | Do not start a cross-platform invite | Published support says no different-platform crossplay; PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Series are the listed cross-generation pairs |

Configure a private Duo or trio
All players meet in the Roundtable, but the number and matchmaking controls are set for the Expedition. Bandai Namco's Duo instructions use the Expedition interface's Target and Matchmaking Setting tabs. A password is for gathering the intended friend(s); it cannot make unsupported platform crossplay work.
- Agree on the platform family first. Use PS4 with PS5, or Xbox One with Xbox Series X|S; keep PC players with PC under Bandai Namco's published crossplay statement.
- At the Table of Lost Grace, open the Expedition interface and choose the target Expedition.
- Open Matchmaking Settings and set Number of Players to 2 for Duo or 3 for a full team. For a solo run, choose 1; the official starter guide says solo can be offline.
- If inviting friends, set a shared matchmaking password and have the intended partner(s) use the same value. Keep that password private; it is not needed for public matchmaking.
- Verify everyone has restarted onto the same available update/regulation before retrying. The official update feed is the place to check for later changes; the version 1.02 note is historical, not a promise that old clients still match.
- Launch only after the party count and target are correct. If one player remains outside the party, recheck platform family and selected number before repeatedly changing network settings.

Use the party compatibility checker
Select your group size and platform pairing. The browser-local result only applies the documented group modes and crossplay statement. It cannot inspect installed versions, accounts, passwords, NAT, servers or matchmaking.

Do not confuse online visibility with crossplay
The starter guide describes the Roundtable as an online hub and multiplayer Expeditions as internet-dependent; that does not mean accounts on every platform are in one pool. Bandai Namco's launch information specifically states no crossplay between different platforms, with the PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Series exceptions. Because that statement is dated, check the latest official news if a newer patch or platform launch is involved.

Before you play
- Set Number of Players to 1, 2 or 3 for solo, Duo or standard co-op before launching.
- For a Duo, use the Expedition's matchmaking settings and a shared friend password if needed.
- PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Series are the cross-generation pairs stated by Bandai Namco; different platform families do not crossplay per that notice.
- Check current app/regulation versions and restart after updates before diagnosing a queue.
- Never post a matchmaking password or account details in public discussion.

Can a PC player join my PS5 Expedition?
Bandai Namco's launch information says crossplay between different platforms is not available. It lists PS4/PS5 together and Xbox One/Series together; it does not list PC as cross-compatible with consoles.
Does solo require an internet connection?
Bandai Namco's official starter guide says solo can be conducted online or offline, while co-op multiplayer requires an internet connection.
