Confirm mode and setting

  1. Ask each player for the exact platform generation and game edition, not just “PlayStation” or “Xbox.”
  2. Check EA's live FC 26 mode list; cross-play is not a promise that every online or offline mode supports mixed platforms.
  3. Confirm Cross-play is enabled from EA Connect > Social settings > Cross-play > Cross-play settings, or the documented Online Settings path.
  4. Change this setting from a menu, not during a match; EA says it cannot be toggled mid-match.
  5. If the pool and mode match but invites still fail, record the exact error and check EA service status before changing accounts.

Cross-play is not cross-progression

EA says PlayStation cross-progression is only available in Ultimate Team and describes same-platform-family progression examples; that is separate from playing a match across platform generations. This guide does not infer cross-platform career or purchase transfer.
